He thinks he can "resuscitate his career" with the Steelers...
    http://www.post-gazette.com/stories...s-confident-he-can-resuscitate-career-690944/

Just thought I would throw this out there, and see what others think...
Haven`t seen it discussed in other threads...
I`m really on the fence, with this one, with some very mixed emotions...

First off, I really didn`t want him brought back.
Since they did, I`m trying to see the advantages...
He is/was one of Ben`s favorite targets.
Dude does have a lot of experience, he can help the "kids" on the roster with.(recognizing coverages, route running, what NOT to do off the field, etc...
Since our "young money crew", is being quickly disbanded, it can`t hurt to have him here.
Even at 36 years of age, he is still a good target in the redzone, or for semi-short third down conversions.

    I dunno...

I am trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, and believe, that he has changed his ways, after making some mistakes, in his youth, and paying the price for them.(On the field, and off...)
    ...
He was one cocky kid, when he was here before, but time(and jail) has a way of humbling cocky kids...
    (trust me, I know..)

Given the state of our receiving corp at the moment, I`m thinking, "why not give him a chance?"

Honestly, I like Cotchery better, but, how many do we have there?
Brown, Sanders, and some kids that Mac would know?
Pretty sure we are keeping Wheaton, but, still, I think there is room to keep Plax this year, even tho I can`t believe I am saying that...

    Ok...
    Hit me with the negatives...
    He is 36...
Used to be a cancer in the locker room(cocky)...
    What else?
Pretty sure he would be cheap, in the overall scheme of things, and if he really does have his head on right, I think he could help the TEAM, NO?

Feel free to pick this apart, because I can`t believe I am making a case for a guy I never wanted to see back in the Black and Gold!

He was never a locker room cancer. That word is too strong. I wouldn't even use that word for Mike Wallace, who was clearly a problem in the locker room. I save that word for guys who bring down teams. Terrell Owens comes to mind. Plaxico was just a selfish guy who dropped 20 balls a year. I'm rarely one of those "he's changed his ways" guys, but I believe it in his case. It's been a long time since he did something stupid, hasn't it? And aside from shooting himself in the leg, he didn't do anything wrong with the Giants I thought, or the Jets. The biggest problem I ever had with Burress is that he waited until he left to get good.

I'm hoping he does think he can resurrect his career. That means he'll be driving hard, and that can only bring about good things. I wouldn't put it past him to make the team and be active all year. Not expecting more than that from him, and I'll gladly take a few hundred yards and 3 TDs from that 36 year old.

    Upon further review...
    Yer right.
"Cancer" was too strong of a word.
I don`t think he ever really "fractured/divided" the lockeroom.
He sure as hell was egotistical, and selfish, and immature.
    But that was then.
This is now, and I think he can find a role on this team, esp, since he is willinjg to accept that he is a role player/mentor.
I just don`t see the downside, other than his age/reputation...
The rep, I don`t care about.
The age... He ain`t gonna be a #1 receiver...
Why not keep him,. and get his couple hundred yards, and a few TD`s?
I`m sure there has to be some hatred out there for him...
Guess I will read about it in the morn.

    GO STEELERS!:yeehaw:

Nothing personal against him but as a 5th wr you need to play specials and he can't.

This is my view as well. I don't hate the guy - I'm probably more up on him now than I was when he left - but I'm not sure we'll have the luxury of roster spaces for him.

I have tried to erase the final four games of 2012 from my memory. I only remember snippets. But it seemed to me that Plax was one of the few guys who showed up to play during that span. I know he only had three catches in three games, one for a TD, but he also made a very tough catch in traffic vs the Chargers, and I remember thinking, "There's no way Mike Wallace makes that catch."

I'm on the fence as far as keeping him. One thing for sure: in camp, he'll have to show the coaching staff that he belongs on the team. I think that if he stays, it's because he's proven he can be a productive player--and that's a positive. If they cut him, it's because he's done. That simple.

Plax might have showed up to play the final 4 games of '12, but the team made him inactive for two of them.

He might make the team this yr, but I think its asking a lot to expect very much from him.

I think he can be an asset. He came into a difficult situation last year, I expect a bigger contribution from him this season and agree with 12to88, he can make those difficult catches. I've never had a problem with Plax, not the first time he was here and not now.

Wheaton will definitely be here, he can line up in a lot of places and he will help clear the field like Wallace did, I think he will be a very exciting player for us.

my thoughts are for the future of this team more then anything about the plax ability to play this year. we don't have the roster spots.

cotchery has more left then plax and is old enough to mentor. we have an old coach that can mentor the young guys plenty now as opposed to the last few years.

i don't want to lose woods and justin brown just to keep plax a year. at the end of this year we will have 2 wr's on the roster. AB and wheaton. i'd rather have wheaton, AB, brown and woods or moye or gilreath or dunn, or whomever shows some future ability. then i'd try to sign cotchery for one more season.

we only have 45 hats on gameday.

Walking around with one hand covering your ass and one covering your Johnson tends to make you change your ways. Prison will do that to you. Saying that, I was always one who wanted Plax here!

Best days are behind him but he can still contribute to the cause and a worthy roster slot.

With the little glimpses of Plex last year, I saw some good things, for not going to a training camp and missing half a season, I thought he didn't look to bad. He's no deep threat but I think he is great guy to have around because does create some mis matches with his size and of course he is a good red zone threat, plus he won't say much I think he is just happy to be on a team at this point as well.
