So, after the Bengals game, a lot of people will jump ship and hop on the Mason Rudolph boat.

My thoughts go along the lines of:
    - It's obvious Rogers influence is very good on him. I liked how he has adjusted.
    - I've always like Mason but my knock on him is that he is consistently inconsistent.
    - The Bengals defense just sux. It is horrible. It's really not a measuring stick.

That said, I think Mason just might be the better option.
I think going under the premise of Healing Rogers by sitting him for the Bears game and starting Mason would give them a better measuring stick.
The Bears are on a 3 game winning streak against subpar teams yet they would be a good test to see where Mason is now.

The Steelers missed the boat in my opinion on this QB deal.
In my world, Rogers would be holding a spot and training my Rookie and hopefully during the season my rookie is up to speed to start some games and keep Rogers rested.
Well, we did draft Howard who promptly broke a finger.
But maybe something is there? I dunno. I'm not really sure I want to go into 2026 with Mason and Howard as #1 and #2.. but that's what it looks like we'll do.

Anyway, without digressing... this is a great week to go with Mason.

You might need to go look, aaron has been back and forth. Seattle and New England.

Also both of masons drives killed more time than any of Aaron's drives.

Also 3of five of Aaron's drives that day resulted in s punt.

Also mason opened the playbook more and got DK more involved.
    - you know the guy that is paid 140 million and cost us a second round pick.

One last thing, when did you see the defense have fire like that?

Wait we won the first game against the Bengals? Man, I really thought we lost by two points.

Can you please decide which argument you want to have.
    - either the over all game
    - or performance

If it's who started than Rodgers lost a game and won a game.

If its performance than Rodgers had one good game. But than on the next one he went with scoring on 2 out 5 drives (3 drives resulted in a point).. and he takes meh time off the clock (which is also a problem for game one. You know the one you thought we won, but we actually lost).

    You need evidence of what?
    - Washington crushing players on a 3 and long?
    - both interceptions
    - sacks
    - Wilson getting plays
    - etc.

The evidence is go watch the game. That's the evidence.

I would much rather live on the hope that Rodgers can play like he did the first 7 games than the lack-of-hope of what Rudolph brings to the table.

Hasselbeck on FSR this morning: "backup QB do not get first team reps during the season, just not enough time and reps to allow it".... so it's understandable if there is some period of adjustment when they step in.

But it's super hard to find. I go into a 7/11 and it's always flavored with other garbage. Why in the world do I need pumpkin spice? Cranberry ale? I could have sworn cranberry was for a uti, not drinking.

Only problem there is Rogers is only 50/50 to play.
We might get a look by default... it wouldn't hurt.
But Rogers is determined, so maybe not.

No, Mason should not be the #1. With that said, I'm comfortable with him starting until Aaron is healthy.

I’ve been saying that, as an over-40 athlete, AR’s peak is as good as he used to be, but (1) he’d need more recovery time to stay at that peak, and (2) his drop off due to fatigue would be more severe.

If AR plays the next game, I am guessing his sub-par play would continue.
If AR misses the next game, and he is forced to rest this week like it was a bye, then I am guessing in 2 weeks he would be very good.

So… I want Mason to start the next game, but I don’t think AR is done for the season if he is managed more carefully going forward. (I’d want more Mason starts mixed in the rest of the season.)

I`m for letting Rudolph start against the Bears and Bills.

Old man Rodgers might be fresh enough to finish the season after that. His injury is actually good timing if you had to get one IMO.

Mason Rudolph took your girlfriend or something right..? Your hatred of him is unexplainable... He's done his job well, & been nothing but professional... You'd rather bail on the season & play the rookie than see MR succeed... That's telling... All your negative comments about him would seem pretty ridiculous then, so I get it, but cmon man, they're still in the hunt & Rudolph looked good out there... Thy lost the playoff game against buffalo but hardly because of MR. Honestly the pittsburgh offense has looked better in the last 4-5 games with Rudolph under center than at any other point post Ben... So I'm sorry he took your girl or whatever,,,but give it rest man... Winning is what matters,,, be happy

I'm probably the biggest Rudolph fan on here but if AR can play, he should start... What i will say is that what a luxury it is for pittsburgh to have such an old hof Qb & the best backup Qb in the nfl...
