Until AR targets players his other WR’s we are basically counting on DK and Warren. Are fans cool with that?

Just double Dk and focus on the short stuff and you will limit the Steelers passing offense.

Are the other players getting open?

This was what we kinda knew was happening when we traded Pickens away. Austin does a decent enough job as a low end #2 WR, but he is quite literally our only other capable WR. Roman Wilson must have 0 clue what he is doing on the field because he can't even get on the field. We are going to target the TE's and the RB's quite a lot in the passing game (which, isn't necessarily the worst thing because Warren is a really good weapon and Smith/Muth/Washington is a really good TE room), but not having another true WR is really going to hurt us. If we lose DK to injury at any point of the season it will be increasingly difficult to win games. He's getting open despite being the true #1 and the only real WR threat (which means, he's a good player), but we don't have anyone else that can create for themselves. This team would be doing itself a huge disservice to not try to trade for another WR.

8 different players caught a pass in the game. How you shutting all that off?

Are we being unfair to Roman Wilson? This is basically his first season, he’s played 6 games. If you look at it that way, is his usage for a 3rd rd pick buried on the depth chart that unusual up to this point?

Not sure what they are going to be able to find via a trade and Wilsons playing time is beginning to tick upward, wonder if they will just continue on with what we have.

    Agreed

It will be interesting to see how many snaps he gets vs the shrimp bait tomorrow night

I think that will tell a lot

For me the other question that has to be answered is what role the WR2 plays in Smith's offense this year. He and Rodgers are making regular use of all three TEs in the passing game, and I don't think that's solely because Austin/Wilson can't get open.

I would say people are being unfair. All you need to do is go back and review All 22 and you will see many times RW is open yet AR has not gone his way with the ball.

    Thanks

I was hoping someone could respond appropriately in this regard

His snap count was second for a receiver and pretty much in Mr Rodgers neighborhood with the 3 receivers

He would not be out there if he was not getting open

With Smith’s offense if he is on the field with DK and the TEs he is pretty much the 4 or 5 receivers

This is not correct he was on the field for 58% of the snaps about the same as the TEs

Please do your homework before posting :bscow:

His snap count has been very low, until last week he only broke 20 snaps once. He’s not going to get a lot of targets playing that little.

    By game,
    10

    12
    3
    15
    33

Hopefully last week is a sign he’s about to be more involved.

You are correct that this is essentially his rookie year. Speaking for myself, if I were in his situation I would have spent the last year in study and whatever physical conditioning he could do in accordance with his recovery plan / IR rules. He is getting paid almost $840,000 a year and he is a WR. If he is good, there is the possibility of insane money coming his way in a few years. I would have showed up, ready to work hard and I would know everything on the mental side. I would have been walking the sidelines, talking to the trainers, the coaches and everyone else possible to suck in the knowledge. I don't know if he did that or not, but something is keeping him from being a bigger part of the offense.

    :hmm:

I honestly don't know why people are now worried about Roman Wilson. Dude is fine entering his second season. The issue isn't Wilson. Arthur Smith loves his Tight Ends; plain and simple. Key among them is Jonnu Smith. Wherever Arthur Smith goes?!... Jonnu Smith goes with him.

What people should be discussing is the arrival of Darnell Washington. He is still ways away from becoming a complete Tight End but he is definitely leaps and bounds more complete as a Tight End than he ever was in 2024. If anything, Darnell Washington just may be the most versatile Offensive Player the Steelers have currently.. and that is not hyperbole either.

How many TEs can routinely block EDGE's the way Darnell Washington can?! None. What about the severe mismatch ability that Darnell provides in situational downs?! None. Endzone even?! Nope.

Truth be told, Darnell Washington continuing to ascend his performance is something that should be a far greater talking point of emphasis as of now. Why?! The more complete a player Darnell Washington becomes, the more every receiving threat the Steelers have will benefit; Calvin Austin the Third, Roman Wilson or otherwise. Teams now having to account for a 6'7, 300+ behemoth who can run 4.69?! That, in it of itself, is a matchup nightmare; freeing up any other Wide Receiver not named D.K. Metcalf to have more opportunities.

Long story short?! In 2025, the key to scoring as many points as possible is heavily dependent on three things; the quality of the QB, the quality of the Offensive Line and how versatile your weapons are on Offense.
