"So how close have games been in this season? Per data from the NFL:

    • There have been 24 games in 2025 with a game-winning score in the final two minutes of regulation or in overtime, the most through Week 5 in NFL history.

    • There have been 46 games decided by one score (8 points), the third-most ever through Week 5, trailing only 2022 (49) and 2024 (48).

    • There have been 44 games decided by 7 points or fewer, the third most ever through Week 5, trailing only 2024 (47) and 2022 (45)."

The NFL loves parity. It rewards the weak and punishes the strong with their draft system.

    That’s interesting data.

Im not sure it’s just about the draft system - after all, in the past there have been teams routinely running up scores on other teams.

I suspect things like reduced pass practice, shifts in rules against the defense and rushing rookie QBs in to starting positions also has an impact.

still, not complaining about the close games

If the rules favor the offense, this happens. I wonder if total scoring is up or down.

It’s kind of like nba now.

This doesn't bode well for most teams that blow teams out apparently. None have a SB win until you get to number 6.
    Edit: I missed Tampa.

To try and state the systems has changed over the outcome of several games is ridicules. Over 5 years or a decade one came project certain trends, but any team (good or bade) can but that trend out the window. The Radiers game is one example, the wild outcomes of several last minute games this year as well. I believe the amount of potential parity can be discussed by a verity of factors.

I always hope every game comes down to the last minute except Steeler games. I'd have no problem watching them blow out other teams.
