    nah, I’m good.

He asked for an example and I gave him one. Any additional information is just deflecting from the obvious because if Baker was such a baller he would have stuck in Carolina or LA.

That is what NB and others are trying to imply due to Kenny’s journey but folks who are honest know sometimes you just need to find the right team for things to click.

It is way to quick to think that Jones will be anything other than a backup who had a good game.

I agree that the Browns screwed up in moving on from Mayfield. I couldn't care less about one playoff game in evaluating a player, but he showed real promise in 2020, then struggled while playing through a shoulder injury the following season. They gave up a huge haul in trade, an insane contract, and any shred of dignity to get Watson when Mayfield is the better player.

Maybe.. but I doubt they walked over and sat Kenny down and said “buddy, we want Russ next year”

Given the results last year I would’ve preferred letting Mason and Kenny duke it out in camp but I also think Tomlin isn’t the type to have a real QB competition in camp. We wouldn’t have started Trubisky if we had a real QB competition in 2022.

Why do you ask questions to which you already know the answers?

The bigger question is why do I waste time responding to you thinking I will get an intelligent answer

I think when you draft a QB first and he gets you the first playoff win since Vinny Testerverde you should probably slow down on starting over for a QB.

and it wasn’t like they tossed him aside for a winner.

they chased stats when they went after Watson. He was also out of football for a year which was ridiculous.

and Mac Jones is 3-0 as a starter. 6TDs, 1INT and averages about 280 passing yards a game.

Offense looks exactly the same as with Purdy. I can’t stand Mac Jones but he is playing well.

I think we were going to have that competition. But the opportunity to get Russ for "free" was too good to pass up.

Then we also got Fields for pennies on the dollar.

I think it's pretty hard to argue that Mason/Kenny would have been better QB depth than Russ/Fields.

I think we both agreed (on another board) that we would have been better off starting Fields for the last couple / few games last year.

Re: Mitch. I think this was more about our ethos (going back to at least Cowher) of making rookies earn their starting spots. Maybe we should have made an exception for Kenny at QB. But Ben started his rookie year (under Cowher obviously) as QB3. Mitch was clearly a bad QB. Especially in that situation where I think he knew he was going to the bench eventually so he was hunting for big plays to put on tape. He did have a couple games (coming in for an injured Kenny) where he played OK by embracing the system. And even though that offense was among the least entertaining things I've ever watched, it was a decent system for trying to win with poor QB play. I think this is ultimately why Tomlin's floor for wins is so high. And why I've been worried that we'll be in a Bill's like QB wilderness for a while (between Kelly and Allen).

oh.. so ypu are one of those
We knew what Mason could do and still started Mitch. It made no sense.

On paper Fields/Russ was better. However, as we witnessed and Giants have witnessed.. Russ is at the end of his journey.

I'm just not sure any QB besides Rodgers could excel in this offense because I think he has the resume to tell coaches no or change plays and they will respect it vs handcuffing him. We still have to see what this O looks like once it plays better competition. I was fooled by Russ last year.

Baker Mayfield was winning in Cleveland, but as stupid as Cleveland is they got rid of him for a player they are still paying that is not playing

Nobody has a real competition when You are spending a lot more money, and , or draft capital for a player, until You just can't. We see it every year , everywhere. It the reason Indy stuck with Richardson untill they couldn't, it's the reason Chicago stuck with Fields until they couldn't, and it's the reason Geno Smith is still starting until they just can't take it anymore, and these are just a few examples.
