Personally I couldn’t care less what many people think. As for big k getting a fair shot. He got a fair shot and was pretty terrible. Once he knew he wouldn’t be handed a job he bailed.

The Kenny Pickett chants are starting in Las Vegas.

Vegas gets blown out 6 - 40 and Gino throws 2 Ints and 0 Tds this week.

yup.. its not over for Kenny. Still has a chance to show his goods. Especially if Geno keeps playing like this.

Which QB who is good enough to be a starter went though 4 teams in 18 months?

Geno is on pace to throw over 30 picks this season, I can't imagine Pete Carroll putting up with this much longer.

I can’t say I understand the whole “This QB or that QB wasn’t given a chance”.

The coaching staff is with them in practice on a week in and week out basis. The QBs being referenced have generally started games as well. The coaches have the best view of the players and whether they will be successful in the long run.

Now, I am not defending the coaching staff, but there aren’t many players who leave us and find tremendous success elsewhere.

Some of it is based around the situations they put those players in during their time with the team. Pickett was stuck with an unqualified and incompetent offensive coordinator. His offensive line was weak, especially the center. His coaches were overly conservative, taking away the aggressiveness that made him successful at Pitt. His two best receivers where immature jackasses, both of whom were so bad that the team traded them away for minimal returns.

People like to paint him as a malcontent, but his actual comments and behavior while he was with the Steeles do not back up that characterization. (Cue jeh's fiction writing.) He reacted poorly to the team handing the job to Russell Wilson, but the team botched that situation, too.

None of that absolves him from blame for not being more productive and it certainly doesn't change the fact that he is injury prone, which I believe is the biggest reason the Eagles and Browns moved on. He showed both teams he couldn't stay healthy.

There are a couple of finer points I could quibble with here, but in general I think it's a fair take on how the situation played out.

    Baker Mayfield.

He went “through” 4 teams in EIGHT months.

Traded from Cleveland to Carolina in June of 2022. Played for Carolina then was traded midseason to the Rams. Signed with Tampa Bay in March of 2023.

I really don’t see the big deal with Kenny getting moved from CLE to be the #2 in Vegas. CLE isn’t known for their QB evaluations which is why Baker is flourishing in Tampa.

Its rare for a QB to stick around once the team bails on him. Especially when its leaders on defense who went behind your back.

Once they tell you a vet like Russ is QB1 your agent isn’t going to tell you to fight. He is going to tell you to request a trade.

I did want to see Pickett with a new OC but I totally understand the business decision. As we see, it didn’t work out for Russ either. Hopefully it works out for Rodgers but IMO the only way to have success is to have a QB who is a HOFer who doesn’t need ANY coaching from this staff.

I don't think we have any evidence that they went behind Kenny's back.

I'd imagine that he was aware that the defense was very tired of carrying an offense that couldn't score.

I also don't blame Kenny for bailing. It was clear that he wasn't going to get the opportunity to start.

Would have been interesting to see if we didn't bring in Wilson and had a real competition between Mason and Kenny. I think we both have opinions on how that would have worked out. But we won't ever know because it didn't happen.

Darnold might technically miss the 18 months (didn't check specifically), but it's another good example.

I agree that it probably won't work out for Kenny. But his best bet seems to be to end up in the NFC since most of the good QBs are in the AFC right now.

Your only argument here is based on fiction. You are too busy looking for an argument to point to the real differences between them.
    • Mayfield plays like a gunslinger. Pickett allowed himself to be molded into a game manager and hasn't figured out how to regain the aggressiveness that Tomlin and his staff coached out of him.
    • Mayfield was a better prospect out of college.
    • Mayfield had one major injury that ruined a season. Pickett has suffered a series of injuries that showed the Eagles and Browns they couldn't rely on him to be available.

well… Baker Mayfield also has Mike Evans, Egbuka, Godwin and another weapon or 2.

When Baker was in Carolina he looked like hot garbage. So did Sam Darnold.

and for the record. I always believed Cleveland made a huge mistake blaming the only QB to win a playoff game in 30 years for having a down season. They really believed they were a SB contender that year.

Mac Jones is another great example. Didn’t hop from tear to team but you see what a QB can do when put in a system that works. Small sample size but it looks like SF overpaid for Purdy. A lot of people said he benefited from Shanahans offense.
