I think Najee was from the Bay area.

    Not anymore.

This crossed my mind last night after the Hampton pick. I haven't seen that the specific triggers for the incentives have been made public, other than they're based around rushing yards. But I do know that regarding incentives, the CBA categorizes them as either Likely to be Earned (LTBE) or Not Likely to be Earned (NTLBE).

LTBE incentives count against the current year's salary cap. NTLBEs are retroactively applied to the following year if they're triggered. Most are NTLBE, and I've yet to see Harris' cap number include anything other than his base and signing bonus, so I assume that's what his were as well.

So, as far as the incentives go, after Hampton was announced last night you could hear the faint sound of Taps playing softly in the distance.

I’m basing this on nothing but I’d bet a cold IPA the Steelers tried to extend him and he over played his pair of twos so they called his bluff

    Somehow he made himself unwelcome

When he shot off his mouth about the RB market you knew it was over then. His mouth was writing checks his body couldn’t cash.

Worked out even worse for him than Bell.

I just posted this on the draft thread, but it works here, too. One of the main reasons I argued that the Steelers made a mistake in not exercising the fifth-year option on Harris was that they would have to use valuable resources this offseason to replace him. They just proved me right by taking Kaleb Johnson in the third round. I would have much rather they still had Harris and used that pick on Sanders, help on the lines, or in the secondary.

    Nope

They didn’t replace Harris they upgraded from Harris

    The team is better

The new RB sounds like he’ll be better

the guy must be good otherwise we wouldn't have spent a 3rd rounder on a RB. We could easily gotten a RB through FA or the waiver wire.

Maybe, but that is a resource they could have used elsewhere and still had a solid backfield.

Totally agree. There is an excellent liklihood that we enter 2025 with two RB's better than Harris. Can't complain.

I liked Najee and wish him well

But this post unfortunately did not age well

I wonder if they will pay him the incentives none the less

Are you under the impression that they signed him expecting his Achilles to blow in Week 3?

They have had an effective running game once in four contests. Is that better?

Then I will explain it to you. Months ago, I wrote that the incentives would mostly be ones that he would easily reach. That was about the Chargers' intent and how they valued Harris. That he got injured in Week 3 does not change what they intended when they signed him unless you want to argue that they were hoping some injury would save them from having to pay those incentives.

Of course, it was a silly bit of sarcasm designed to make a point, not a real question for you. I hope that helped you sort it out.

You can't predict injuries like that especially for a player who was durable after 4 seasons....

Ok now Im certain you can’t read English

Read this slowly and don't twist it into one of your attempts to make an argument

I read it the first time. It simply is not relevant to the discussion of their intent when they gave him the contract, so I ignored it.

I'm sorry. I did not realize my refusal to engage in part of the argument would be so upsetting for you, but please stop claiming I don't understand what you wrote simply because I don't wish to engage you in that part of the discussion. It is rude.
