Maybe this is why our running game was better?

Yea he is super disappointing. Almost a net negative when he is on the field because he can’t block.

Blocked FG he's late a bit, but there was no leverage call ass the guy lined up between him and Cam uses his hands to push off both of their backs. That definitely helped him to not be able to get to his assignment.

I'm blaming both there, Cam seemed late as well. He gets his guy cleanly, Pat can at least get a hand on his.

That's a big questions. What has happened to the TE position? We also have that $12 mil stretch TE who is catching like one pass for ten yards per game.
Y we not attack the middle of the field any more under Arthur and Rodgers?

Is he not getting open or Rodgers isn't throwing him the ball.

There is some potential that this is the case. I don't think that simply adding a better blocking TE solves everything.... but it definitely helped. The OL as a whole played very well today. Lots of open running lanes at all different spots of the line. Would love to see a lot more of it moving forward.

Zero=0, routes run by Muth against the Vikes. Maybe a short stint in Tomlin's doghouse?

I'd run Smith and Washington in double TE sets.
    Smith is almost a WR.
In single TE, I'd probably use Washington as he's a bigger body to try to get around.
    Pat would be Smith's backup.

So is Freiermuth in Tomlin's doghouse or is this just a classic case of personnel based strategic deployment by both Tomlin and Arthur Smith?! I understand that missing the assignment on the blocked FG will not sit well with the coaches but that by itself shouldn't be enough to explain Pat's sudden drop in snaps. Something is amiss here.

Good points. Could be strategic when looking at it:

Maybe A Smith learning more about what each can and can't do together. Weird that Heyward outsnapped Muth in this game but maybe just a sign of how bad a blocker Muth really is. There was a play last week I wish I had a clip of where Muth basically stood at the OL and blocked no one.

I'm liking the Smith/Washington duo so far.

That will change. To Smith though. Freiermuth has quickly become expendable with those 2. One's a better blocker, and the other's a better receiver.

Maybe it had something to do with that bad attempt at blocking during the blocked FG?

I assume it is a mix of strategy and the coaches being down on Freiermuth. Remember, Heyward gets some snaps lining up at fullback, too.

There were fewer snaps for tight ends because they went with six linemen so often. I'm certain that cut into Freiermuth's snaps.

I believe it's nothing other than a different game plan. If You are game planing, certain players won't get the same touches, or targets every game. Also it's 4 games. Wait, and see.
