If I were to guess I would say 80% of the Board are very frustrated and want Tomlin fired.
If you go to all the boards I would guess that's not untypical. lol

Here is the kicker. Who else would you want because I just dont see anyone out there.
I assume most would say the Eagles coach or Chiefs coach but even in those boards.. they call for them to be fired unless they win a Lombardi every year.

Naturally ..it would be a great OC/DC or college coach but my point is look at how successful these DC/OC college coaches are that following year or years.

Not looking to be critical of anyone's choices but hope to be educated on who would fill in and make this Offense/Defense/ST better with better game decision making as what appears to frustrate the Steeler fan.

I dont have access to NFL stats but I would love to see a query on these teams that are historically poor and the coach they hired and that coaches record after 3 years.

I apologize for offending you jeh1856 but that was not my intent. I see Steeler Nation wanting change asap and my argument that I didnt think there was anyone qualified that would dramatically improve the team if he was fired this week.

So I wanted to know who is out there when they want Tomlin fired.

Buffalo Bills were historically poor before they hired GM Brandon Beane and HC Sean McDermott in 2017.
San Francisco 49ers were poor from 2003 to 2010 with Dennis Erickson, Mike Nolan, Mike Singletary, Jim Tomsula until they hired Trent Baalke for GM in 2010 who hired Harbaugh in 2011.
Of the top of my head.

All I know is that nearly every opposing teams fans love him. I been saying for years please take him. With the talent on our team over the past 20 years we should be going for #9 and not 7.

It is hard to tell because lots of good coaches come from success and some come from relative unknown. Tomlin was a one year DC at the NFL level. Dan Campbell was a TE coach. Harbaugh was a ST coordinator and DB coach... Lots of roads to become a successful NFL coach. There are also many great coordinators that just aren't cut out to be NFL head coaches. There's more to the job than just being good at coordinating one side of the ball.

If you're looking at top offensive guys maybe you look at giving Kingsbury another shot. Or Kellen Moore. Maybe even Klint Kubiak. Defensively, you'd be looking at someone like Brian Flores getting another shot, or a young riser like Jesse Minter or even seeing if Zach Orr develops as an option in a couple years.

Tomlin isn't even the worst head coach in Pittsburgh, Pat Narduzzi has him beat by a mile in that category.

Greg Olsen was coaching the team during that short yardage debacle at the end of the game. I know he doesn't have a coaching background, I would have wanted his decision making

I don't need Tomin fired at this point, but I don't find this argument against firing him persuasive. I had never heard of Tomlin before he was hired. There may be any number of coordinators right now that would be good HC's that aren't getting mentioned. I don't have anyone in mind at the moment. Who's the Eagles OC?

Even the best of them gets burned out or stale. Happened with Noll and Cowher. Happened with Belichik. One can say its happening with Tomlin

    At the moment?! Good question.

Seems that there are a lot of great Young Offensive Minds but not a lot of them are natural leaders. For that matter, the only three Offensive Minds as of this moment that would also constitute as a CEO type are as follows:

    1.) Andy Reid.

    2.) Kyle Shanahan.

    3.) Sean McVay.

Coincidentally enough, Sean McVay has a bit more in common with Mike Tomlin than others believe. If anything, Sean McVay is essentially Mike Tomlin as an Offensive Mind. I would imagine that is the type of Head Coach AR II would want. Key question remains is will AR II pivot to that direction?!

Who knows?! That isn't getting answered until Tomlin elects to leave on his own terms anyways; however long that is.

Honestly, I think we all suffer a bit from 'grass is greener' syndrome. There are absolutely worse head coaches out there. Anyone that we replace him with is a bit off a crap shoot regardless of past success. To do well overall, it also takes more than just a head coach. You have to have a good GM, and some good coaches under the HC. He can't do it all by himself.

What are Tomlin's weak spots? IMO......clock and time out management, a history of allowing players to run slightly amuck (lack of discipline), extreme focus on the defense, depending on the defense to save everything, a prevent defense that tries to prevent the big plays against us but does not exploit a lead, and a lack of innovation on both sides of the ball for the game plan. Those are some pretty big issues, but they are all things that could be solved. Without getting rid of Tomlin as I cant see that happening, I think the Steelers need a new DC, QB coach and OLine coach.

Miracles happen, but I don't see us bringing the Lombardi home with Tomlin as the HC. We just don't play well in December and beyond. Too tired and beat up by then after a season of scraping by to try and make the playoffs. That alone should be enough reason to move on, but I suspect that on the day we move on from Tomlin, we will see a lot of years in purgatory. It will take a long time to find the right HC / GM / OC / DC combo that will allow us to advance further that we have been. If Tomlin left tomorrow, I would not be crying in my beer. But I also think that when he does go, we will become more swingy between the winning and losing seasons.
