My thoughts on reg season wk 4

i am ecstatic with the win and some of the splash plays on D. Gainwell really stepped up and I thought He got nice run blocking from the right side of the O line.

 

Go watch the DK td, and You will see more communication issues. All teams have them.

 

We see close games through out the NFL, some are shocking, and a win is a win right? Agree with you completely however, the last several minutes of the 4th was not about miracle play from the opposition, it was buffoonery from from the top on down on our side.

 

We play great Minny was never in the Game

To add my thoughts in addition to your points.


Art Smith called a good game, including going jumbo with an extra OT in tackle eligible plays and quick passes.

Herbig was impactful. He really adds something to the defense. A speed Rush and good feel for the stunts.

Rodgers was very accurate.

DK was amazing. We have to work on ways to get him more into the offense in the future.

Our base defense is the nickel. Key is the play of the DT's and limiting Queen in coverage.

Gainwell has more speed and runs harder than I thought.

 

I refuse to dwell on the negative with this game. Nearly anyone I listened to locally other than Pompeani had the Steelers losing. Other than the first series, their o-line had a nice game. Some of the players that where getting hammered here and elsewhere stepped up. They are 3-1 heading into their bye. Let's hope they come out of it with everyone healthy and ready to go.

 

I'm pretty pissed about the 80 yard blown coverage to Addison late.

But I think it shows the a thing that's really exciting about P Wilson's potential.

He's a ILB and he catches a reasonably fast WR who's got maybe a 20 yard heard start.

I know he hasn't had the best start to the season, but I still think P Wilson can be special.

 

Elliot made the secondary better, Getting jp jr back will make it more better

I'm watching Giants Chargers. Lethargic efforts.
At least we played today with some fire. Some passion. That's a big deal.

 

DK caught a slant in Q2 and took it to the house. Our D let a WR get open 50 yards downfield up 10 with 3 minutes left.

 

My thoughts...

Whew..... officiating is abysmal so far this weekend. They are going to have a pile of bad calls to review..

Aaron Rogers is still awesome.
Who was that wearing #14? Wasn't the same guy I saw in week 1.
Metcalf is way better than Pickens.
Fraiser game up a sack on the first snap but quickly straightened that up. In fact, the entire O-Line did a pretty good job against a good defense.
Defense was much better but I don't want to give Austin any credit for that.
That guy should be issued his walking papers after the season. I can't really see why we allowed Flores to walk instead of Austin.

Smith should replace Pat. He's just better.
The #2 WR is not Calvin Austin. We really need to find a guy. There was a Roman Wilson sighting, on a on-side kick.

 

As I have said many times he should have been MVP of team last year,

Awwww poor guy can’t handle the truth.

 

That chase is worthy of a highlight reel. The head start he had and then being run down? 110% effort with turbos engaged. Amazing sprint.

It would obviously be better if there had been no need to make that run, but he showed why you do not give up on a play. A+

 

Tell me more about that coaching mismatch you kept going on about, because from what I saw the Steelers defensive coaches called a better game than Flores did.

 

Apparently you don't watch much NFL football.

 

That Steelers secondary was on fumes by then with all of the injuries they had to play three safeties at times.

 

I mentioned in the game thread during the game that Smith had the upper hand on Flores and Austin was aggressive, which I want to see more of.

What else do you want me to say?
