I stated RAS as a whole. I didn't specifically state specific metrics individually. Regardless, not too many OTs, few really, have BroJos athletic gifts. Dude is a literal dancing bear when he puts it all together. Thing is, that is way too few and far between.

Too many high draft picks have not panned out. Management has to look into what really is the problem. Of course theres probably some politics going on that prevents an honest in depth study.

on a side note: Noll was a master of teaching technique to his o linemen. Our next HC really needs to be a teacher and focus on perfecting simple fundamentals. And less “players coach” stuff and less on the cool soundbites Tomlin is famous for. I can totally see how we overlook or underestimate the bottom feeder teams

I see posts like this and I have to ask the question; what do you think coaching in the NFL actually looks like in 2025?

Not picking on you personally, @Steelvision@Steelvision.

The NFLPA has literally legislated what coaches can and cannot do in practices. They can't even have padded practices every week, let alone every practice. The players made it this way. Fundamentals are suffering across the league. Injuries are up. Coaches are getting fired mid-season. It's becoming more and more like the NBA in many ways and it's not a good thing, IMO.

In short, coaches can no longer use tactics the legendary coaches used. You can hit a player in the wallet, which can be repealed. You can sit players, take away snaps. At the peril of losing games because of it and losing your job.
Kelce physically pushed his HC on national tv during the SB. No fine, no punishment at all.

So, why isn't BroJo learning faster how to play his position and not allow hits on his QB? I don't know exactly. But to just say it's poor coaching is just a lazy explanation.

Munchak was a great coach. He also had something to work with. We aren't sure about that with BroJo just yet.

is Jones not learning or is he not being taught correctly? Thats the question. And its anything but a lazy argument when the OP is describing in detail what jones is not doing right such as not moving his feet at the right time which is coachable. My argument is we’ve been missing on alot of high picks going back at least ten years. And this needs to be looked into in depth. When it happens this often It seems its not a player problem but rather a system problem - and the source or sources of the problem need to be identified and corrected.

Why aren't the other guys having this problem???
And No matter what PFF told people. The 4th round pick Dan Moore got better every year he was here.

And...being a coachable problem or a coachable player are not the same thing. The technique is coachable. So far, BroJo has not shown that he is. OR...do you think the coaches are just letting him make the same mistakes over and over, hoping he'll learn all by himself?

Don't disagree that Moore got better each season. But he started from a very low bar and when he left he was finally an average LT.

And looking at this, PIT made the right decision:

They love to blame coaches for failure, but ignore when players succeed. It’s really quite comical

    A. What happened in the past is the past as has no bearing on the current season. Almost 50% of starters from 2024 have been replaced.
    B. We are talking about an individual as opposed to the whole team.
    C. <Mod Edit> Tone it down, please.

And Black had the best game of the bunch. Every other Dlinemen was getting pushed around Black held his ground even against double teams.

Benton and Yayha being out of position isn't Dunbars doing. That is scheme. That befalls on both Tomlin and Austin.

Loudermilk is nothing more than a depth piece though that is what he always was coming out of Wisconsin. Larry O was up and down sans 2021 for his whole career. Leal though can be considered a blunder by Dunbar given how he didn't fully develop into the IDL/EDGE Hybrid that the team wanted.

Karl Dunbar, among the positional coaches on the team, should be the least of worries for anyone. If there is a reason as to why the IDL has been so porous, that befalls on poor talent evaluation via Scouting and/or poor scheme fit.
