Our opponents also said they knew what plays we were running all the time on the offense while we went 11-0. Remember that?
So let me get this straight, and this is not all meant for You @Bubbahotep@Bubbahotep ...,but I'm using this post since its kinda about it all.
Our opponents know everything we run, we as many have said can't coach up anyone, they can't develop players, and yet we average 10.5 wins a season.
Are we doing it by magic??
Are the teams just letting us win??
Does any of that make sense??

Well those defenses were playing against the best 2 QBs in the NFL. We were playing Justin Fields.

    1. I bet Washington is on the sidelines because Rodgers wants certain packages for the offense. His ego is writing checks his body can’t cash.

    2. I think it will be running back committee all year, they want to get that rookie going too.

    3. They want Ramsey in the slot, but dang…he looks like he still has the ability to play outside. Joey got knocked out of the game too, not sure if he ever returned?

    4. They invested draft picks, our center and RT are young…I don’t think Jones has an excuse anymore. Our guards are a late round pick and an old vet.

Eagles let both Seumalu and Slay walk…they wouldn’t have done that if they didn’t know they weren’t the same players.

This team desperately needs a Landon Dickerson or Quenton Nelson type road grader to get the run game going.

Running a hurry up play before the 2 minute warning was idiotic. It gave the Jets the ball back with an extra 30 seconds or so. Ramsey made a great play to dislodge the ball to end it but if Wilson holds on they might be getting a shot at a game winning FG.

They have won the last two MVP awards. I know you don’t like running QBs.

The highest paid defense in the league played like crap. They were overwhelmed by the jets run blocking and justin fields. Time will tell if the jets are the real deal or they just got up for this first game against AR (with Fields having some revenge motive too).

I think the jets will come back down to earth as the season goes on and the steelers will struggle defensively nearly every game putting all the pressure on our 42 year old Qb.

Rooney needs to invest in a new well rounded, complete coaching staff. Its been overdue.

I suspect that once teams get film of what the Jets are doing with Fields, the Jets Offense will cool.

I absolutely put some trust in what former players are saying. At that level these guys certainly know football better than we do. They have had to study football for a living. Edelman I’m sure was well schooled coming from New England. No doubt our defensive line was pushed around yesterday. Heyward didn’t -lay well, nor did Benton. Loudermilk was terrible. I saw a play where the guard chipped hi, and went out and blocked a flat footed Queen who literally caught the lineman without even trying to extend or explode into the guy. Loudermilk was then released by the guard and had a free shot at the QB only to be stood up and driven back by the fullback. That shouldn’t happen. They need to learn the fundamentals of getting off blocks.

Bottom line is I know what my eyes tell me, either get bigger ilb’s or bigger dt’s to protect the ilb’s. You can’t have both gap penetrating dt’s and smallish ilb’s. Specifically when Edelman was referring to us not changing he was talking about the responsibilities of the ilb covering the slot wr and in many cases we still do ask this of our ilb that’s why we like small fast ilb’s. But you are right we are different from the Lebeau days when we blitzed and did fire zone and disguised blitzes. The Dlineman actually took on multi-le blockers and gap contained and kept the ilb’s clean. We certainly don’t do that anymore.

Not being sarcastic, please tell me what you mean as in our scheme change and type of matchups that have changed? I don’t see much of a change over the last five years at least on how we rush the QB or how are ilb’s are utu;ized aginst the run and pass. The front seven scheme wise hasn’t changed for a while.

You are right...They are +50 in turnovers between 2019 to 2024 but when they face a good to great team and they are about even in turnovers, they have almost no shot to win a game

It was fantastic to have that turnover on their kickoff return on Sunday, but we can't rely on that happening every week... Those kinds of turnovers only happen 1-2 times max in a year , and often not at all in a season... Without that turnover, the Steelers wouldn't have won that game, despite Rodgers' fantastic performance.

Yep, I've been saying this for years. We've changed QBs, we've changed coordinators, position coaches, etc. and the same issues keep happening, and the only consistent thing through all of that is Tomlin.

In Butler's scheme they were more blitz heavy guys like Vince Williams and Mike Hilton would put up sack numbers, Austin relies more on the front seven mainly the OLBs.

the only reason we aren’t blitzing from the slot is because we haven’t had a slot capable guy to blitz with. Regarding only rushing 4 and getting most of the pressure from the edge ... its because of Watt. If he wasn’t so dominant then we would have had to have gotten more creative. Unfortunately teams have learned to neutralize Watt and we haven’t been able to adjust. Our other players haven’t taken advantage of the situation the way I would like to see. Football is a game of chess and Tomolin and Austin are playing checkers.
