Has anyone heard how serious his knee injury is? It looked like a pretty ugly twist, legs are not meant to go that way. Usually the longer before we get an update, the more serious it is, but they were on the road and may wait for a diagnosis until they get back to the Burgh.

Yeah, its always not great when you get bent back awkwardly like that. The NYJ/NYG field is notorious for that kind of thing. It just depends on if its a sprain or partial tear I guess. I'm hoping it isn't something that keeps him out for months, but if we can get away with a 4-6 week injury we can at least get him back shortly after the bye

Getting him back after the bye seems to be a best-case scenario. I'd happily take that right now.

Great loss if he misses anytime, he should have been our MVP last year.

Chuck Clark is now a bigger pick up than we thought. Played well when he went in. Tied for team lead in tackles in little more than a half, and had a tackle for loss.

Yeah, it was crazy. Clark went from not making the 53 man roster, and not being picked up on anyone's practice squad, to resigning with the Steelers "Off the Street" right before the season started. Actually, I think the Steelers probably let Clark know that they were not going to sign him to their practice squad, because they were going to immediately sign him to the active roster as soon as they put Trice and Howard on IR.

I thought the defense looked better against the run when Clark came in.

FYI... Justin Simmons is still running around as a Free Agent. :)

And all you Terrell Edmunds HATERS out there can breathe a sign of relief as Edmunds was on the Active Gameday roster for the Raiders in week 1. :)

This is common practice with vested veterans (4+ years of NFL service) when making final roster cuts. VVs are not subject to the waiver wire; once cut, they immediately become free agents, so another team can't claim their contract. Since a player (including those currently nursing an injury) must be on the active roster (i.e., not on PUP or IR) for 24 hours leading into the final cut deadline in order to play at some point in the season, guys like Harmon and Trice are brought off of PUP/IR that day to preserve their eligibility later in the season. That means somebody else has to be released to make room.

VV reserves are used to help bridge the gap - they're released at final cuts with the understanding that they'll be re-signed after the 24 hour period and the injured players can once again be moved off the active 53-man roster, back onto the IR/Return list. Depending on who it is, they may be offered a slight signing bonus when they rejoin. On the other hand, since VVs contracts become guaranteed if they're on the roster for the team's first game, some are brought back after that game in order to preserve cap space if the team is up against their ceiling.

Well this idea lasted less than 24 hours

Seems like a pretty small window
