Watt is a great player, but he made a killer mistake on the touchdown by Fields in the fourth quarter. How was he not ready for Fields to keep it there? If he reads that properly, he blows up Fields for a loss, and the Steelers take control of the game. Instead, they needed a 61-yard field goal and a bonehead play by Fields to save the day for them.

Honestly looked like the defense they used in the playoff game. For some reason they have him focused on the RB.

I thought Watt (and Ramsey) played well for the most part. I’m also convinced that if #14 Kenneth Gainwell doesn’t create that turnover, very unlikely we win. That TO changed the game’s complexion. Not too mention The Boz booting a kick for 60 that would’ve been good from 70.

Still a lot to clean up with our O-line and defense but we’ll take a dub any which way we can get it.

Watt could have played that better, but they also had Slay standing on the very end of the LOS with nobody blocking him, and he still got sucked in to the pile. Even if it was a hand-off, he was so far off the center that he couldn't have done anything. Not sure he stops Fielda one-on-one, but he would have had the opportunity.

Yeah, Watt had the best game of anybody on defense… though giving up 32 points makes it hard to find any competition in that regard. Ramsey made the play when we needed it with the big hit.

Slay looked a bit rough out there. We need Harmon back and for him to be good badly. DL got a bit overwhelmed out there. Heyward with a bit of a rough game after the hold out. Black and Benton quiet.

Even when Watt played the QB he had trouble containing Fields speed.

Yeah, that on is on Fields being really fast though imo. He’s so hard to defend. I thought TJ was one of the few bright spots. Flashing into the backfield to make a number of stops. No sacks, but not a lot of drop backs. I thought overall he looked more than fine.

It is normal on the zone read to have the DE'S crash and take the dive RB , and then allow the LB, CB , or the SS to take force on the QB...If the Defensive End has the QB ? loop and play the QB the Offense will move the dive hole inside and read the tackle... The play off that is the QB power and now the QB has a lead blocker much harder to stop and lots more big plays .

Watt wasn't the only player to screw that one up, but he needs to read that better. He needs to be smarter than that.

Fields being fast had very little to do with that play. The Steelers simply played it poorly. Watt was in a position to blow it up and didn't.

He played excellent except for one very costly mistake, and usually he's very good at that.

I don't think he was credited with one. He got Fields in the backfield twice, but both were considered "designed runs"

Same here originally, but I guess not. They could always correct it after the fact, but it appears that he didn't get credit for one. Either way, I thought he looked good out there. I'm not worried about his game at all. The rest of the defense left a lot to be desired. Hoping it was just some first game stuff with how little the vets played in preseason. Aside from Queen and Ramsey, I'm not sure that anyone in particular stood out in a great way. Slay didn't have a great one unfortunately. Hoping the team can bounce back and put up a good defensive effort against the Seahawks.

3 tackles 2 assists. I would hardly call that a great game. I thought he was average by his standards.

TJ Watt was only front 7 defensive player that deserves a game day check for yesterday's performance.
