    Heinz makes ketchup

    Tobasco makes hot sauce

I see no reason to make anything myself someone else does better

I agree with the ketchup, but I use Louisiana Hot sauce.

My local Walmart started to carry Keystone canned meats, the Beef is awesome. Been buying it on Amazon for years for regular use and Apocalypse storage. Pickup some Aus Jus packets and marked down French bread loaf. So sammys for me today. Time for a Sunday morning walk so I don't feel so bad about the carbs later.

For those who want to expand their culinary skills

New Mexico State Fair has announced the winner of its annual Unique Foods Contest competition for 2025.

B&B Concessions won with its “Sweet and Spicy Spam Fries”. The Spam strips are battered and deep-fried to extra crispy before being glazed with sweet syrup and topped with a spicy aioli. It is served in an original Spam can.

Sob! My plan of Birria pizza has hit a minor roadblock. The braves are playing at home today. So either go now and reheat the Birria or forego altogether

In a simple answer, NO. Homemade ketchup has a different taste than store bought but I can't say across the board better. The good thing about making homemade ketchup is you control the sugar content. Make it as sweet as you want it. Heinz ketchup last nearly forever in the fridge. Homemade not so much. The flavor will change as it ages even in the fridge. Give it a try though. Worst that can happen is you don't like it.

A friend gave me a recipe/formula for making Tobasco sauce

So I bought Tobasco seeds grew them mashed them in a crock like sauerkraut

All was going well until I added the vinegar and started to cook the mash

I had to evacuate my house along with all my company

The fumes were outright toxic I put fans blowing in and fans blowing out

I sent a text to the guy who gave me the formula

He responded “you don’t cook that in your house”

Well there was a piece of information I could have used

it's not my favorite and my wife made very little of it. it was OK but yes it's different. of course many ketchups taste different. depends where you are and what they use. Heinz is the top dog. Hunts i can eat. i do like Brooks and Red Gold. DelMonte is Ok. not a have to have brand ketchup guy though. Heinz in the fridge.

Spam is hugely popular with the citizens of Hawaii. It also holds a special place for Russians.
