But, his arms are the same length of the typical tackle. That’s what matters. Not his height. If anything that gives him an advantage

Remember again as someone previously posted Broderick only started 15 games in college

That is not the same as a 4 year starter who would still need time to learn and grow

He may be a bust he may just be raw and inexperienced

Anyone declaring him a bust at this point is just bitching for the sake of bitching

But some posters all they do is ***** whine and complain

I get all you are saying. He also has a groin injury, Highsmith may not be the best but he is far from a slouch. What I do not get is coming into a season with a history of a line that has for all accounts been (to put it bluntly) lackluster and continually near the bottom of the league in all areas of OL production. Forget the way the organization handles position coach contracts, if you say you are 'all in', and you go into the season with the investment they have made in OL talent, know and see the potential problems ahead, and continue on with the same approach they have had the last several years??? Then I see the bitching has some validation. I hope I am wrong, desire Broderick to show that indeed he was the first round pick we moved up or and likely would not have had because someone else would have grabbed him, but the total past results from the entire organizations efforts do not inspire any confidence.

I believe we have to wait, and see, we don't know yet how we'll, or not he will do, and we don't know yet what their response will be if he is bad. We haven't even seen a preseason game , let alone a real game, and people are freaking out.

    I am not personally.

I will get more concerned should the struggles manifest in both games one and two of the preseason though. For that matter, if the performance is below par in game one against Jacksonville?!.... Oh... man.....

You do know he spent his entire college career with Washington at LT right???

(My guess would be it is Pat Meyer who will keep playing Troy at RT. Meyer loves to play his O-Lineman out of their Natural position... Idiot)

Also, keep in mind the Dylan Cook spent his college career at RT. (LOL after his QB Days)

Troy Fautanu - Football - University of Washington Athletics
2023: Named to the All-Pac-12 first team for the second season in a row ... started at left tackle in all 15 games in 2023 ... won the 2023 Morris Trophy as the top offensive lineman in the Pac-12 Conference, as voted by the league's defensive linemen ... won the John P. Angel Offensive Power Player of the Year Award at the team's postseason banquet.

2022: Started all 13 games ... started at left tackle in the first three games of the year, and then at left guard vs. Stanford ... returned to LT for the reminder of the year ... named Pac-12 Offensive Lineman of the Week following the win over Michigan State, when UW compiled 503 yards of total offense and allowed only one tackle for loss (for just one yard) ... named the UW coaches' offensive power player of the week after the Michigan State and Cal games ... won the John P. Angel Offensive Power Player of the Year Award at the team's postseason awards banquet.

2021: Played in nine games, starting three – two at left tackle and one at left guard ... made his first career start as the Huskies' left tackle, in the win at Arizona ... also started at left tackle at Stanford ... started at left guard vs. WSU.

Wasn't Jones a LT in tackle in college who was told to play RT with some bizarro technique he's never used and is now back at LT?

Of course it's gonna take a loooong time for him to play RT well. It's not gonna happen in the first week of trying a "new" position.

Not all OT's can make the switch, but many do successfully. If we end up with Fautanu at LT and Cook at RT, so be it. Jones may be an all-star replacing Seumalo at LG after this season. Not everything you guys don't understand is a negative. MT's first draft pick, Timmons played ILB, OLB, and DE on 3rd and long at FSU. I think they were able to find a spot for him. Julian Edelman was a college QB but played gadget WR in the NFL and is now a finalist for the HoF. You just don't know what you don't know.
