There's a built in excuse, this team is old. The secondary is 3-4 years older than the average secondary in the league.

AMEN. We were drafting so many players with "measurables" at a position of need which meant "projects" without the necessary top tier coaching to coax upside of of these overdrafted projects.

Too many Artie Burns/Terrell Edmunds types in rounds 1, 2 and 3. I'd rather have the 4.6 forty RB or WR that always produces even with subpar OL or QB play in college, or the DL that always finds himself in the backfield with two OL desperately trying to keep him from gaining ground or the LB that racks up tackles for short gains or losses or the DB that the other teams DON'T throw towards because why bother, the WR will be blanketed.

Not the guy that never produced, but looked like he should have. Or the type that never produced until they were 23 year-old fifth year senior (Pickett).

Because Ben was still here for four years, not two, and was still winning, and I do believe he has never lost to Lamar Jackson, so You would then just have made Ben leave???
For what purpose, to go to the playoffs, and lose. We do that already...... I hate to tell You Lamar Jackson fans ,but Lamar Jackson will be playing his 8 year, and has only 3 playoff wins, and no SB appearances. So you would have kicked our future HOF Qb out two years earlier for that???

The packers did that to Brett Favre in 2008 and Rodgers in 2023...Same for the colts with Manning

But this is also true that I don't think Lamar would been good with us,not in a Matt Canada offense and a head coach who don't know how to use correctly a running QB

2 years. Draft in 2018, sit for 2 years, takes over 2020. Ben stayed too long, most fans recognize that.

It’s not about being a “Jackson fan” it’s about finding the next franchise QB without going through what we did between TB and Ben and now Ben and whoever the next guy is.

I suppose the Packers were stupid for drafting Rodgers when they still had Favre and then Love when they still had Rodgers. They are the only franchise with a wining blueprint for going from one franchise guy to the next without missing a beat and you’re arguing against it because Ben threw 33 TD’s. Lol, what????

And Lamar would play a lot in 2019 because Ben was out for the season after 2 games...We know that Lamar win the MVP in 2019 but the question was if he would been great with us since the coaching staff on offense in 2019 was weak and they were terrible in the next few years after

A lot of this is hindsight 20/20 how many people were actually saying the Steelers should draft Lamar back then. The same when people say they should've drafted Jalen Hurts instead of Chase Claypool.

Conner excelled once he left the Steelers, in all fairness, Conner couldn’t stay healthy here

Wouldn't be surprised if they go to 16 teams to get those two extra games to make millions on. Wildcard weekend on Netflix.

And the defense still uses linebackers to cover receivers.

Yet, you got posters on here thinking Steelers have done something special by just making playoffs and getting blown out by 30! That is hilarious

Making the playoffs in the 1970s and 1980s was a way bigger deal since only 4-5 teams per conference was making the playoffs per year but now, with 7 teams per conference when in a normal year we can see muitiples 9-8 team making the playoffs...Not a big deal anymore!

I mean in 1976,the steelers finish with a 10-4 record but they need help from the raiders to beat the bengals in the 13rd game for that the steelers have control of their fate in the final week of the season to make the playoffs...It was way harder at that time to make the playoffs!

You said LJ, who I suspected was Lamar Jackson. So I was replying to that....so again....LJ has been in the NFL now 8 season, and has 3 playoff wins....that's what You would have told our soon to be HOF Qb to hit the road for???
Now if You said something like Burrow, or Mahomes, I could see Your point, but you said LJ, and I'm guessing you meant Lamar Jackson, if I'm wrong, I apologize.

LoL, but in Your magical world of make believe, if we drafted Lamar, maybe Ben doesn't get hurt. I'm mean if you can change one thing, why not another.

And You got posters on here that think only winning an average of 10.5 games a year means nothing, and making the playoffs means nothing. Funny seems like a lot of coaches wouldn't be fired if they could do that, since you know ,it's so easy to do.

This is still a team sports....You focus too much on the team result instead to look at how good the players is....Hurts is a very good QB and he is not alone in Philly.Lamar deserve blame for his playoffs woes but what about Josh Allen?

I know the steelers had no chance to take him in 2018 but despite no super bowl berth for Allen,he has been amazing in the playoffs in his career. His coaching staff is just not elite like the one in KC with Reid and Spags as DC

Again, the steelers are more a 9-10 wins team since 2021 with a negative point differencial in every season outside of 2024....In fact since the 11-0 start in 2020,the steelers are 39-38-1 including the playoffs....This is nothing

Nobody brought up Josh Allen. I'm only speaking on who was brought up, and No....No team is drafting a Qb in the 1st round with a Qb that is still at the top of there game. People keep talking about Green Bay, but Rodgers fell to 24, and as far as Packers Qb now, come talk when he has won something.
Also MVPs are team awards, or Lamar Jackson wouldn't have won his last, with 5 Qbs with as many or more overall tds, and with as many , or more total yards, but because his TEAM won more games, he won the MVP, and if it wasn't a team award Burrow would have won last year with the most passing yards, and tied for the most overall TD, but because his team sucked, he didn't win it......two examples of proof that the MVPs are not a player award, but a team award.
