I wouldn't know. I've never had heartburn from dark chocolate. I don't eat milk chocolate, or any of that really sweet stuff. Only Dark bitter chocolate.

It's been awhile since I've had any pickles outside of what family has made...., but if I see them I will try them.

Same, but tried something new this week. Publix didn’t have any liverwurst, but they had braunschwager. I had never heard of it, but decided to give it a try. It’s basically liverwurst with a bit of bacon. So liverwurst with a subtle Smokey flavor. Rye bread, red onion, Coleman’s mustard for the win

Canadian bacon it looks like. Which is ham. I make same sandwich but with deli ham. Family makes fun of wife and I for putting mustard (Grey Poupon) on one side and mayo on the other side. We were happy to see others do it too.

When I was 14 I worked on a big milk truck delivering to grocery stores and mom and pop restaurants in mill and mine areas

One of the grocery stores per see ( sold groceries lunch meat ammunition rubber boots etc) had a huge deli counter

A guy in a huge walk in cooler the size of a home worked back there just slicing lunch meat and cheese

He would slice a whole big
Loaf at a time and put it in a big plastic bin

Whatever he was slicing he would give me a piece while I staked up milk

All good for a while until I just stuck a piece of head cheese in my mouth while I wheeled by

Head cheese is made from whatever is in the head of a pig mixed with pickled gelatin

It took everything I had to get out of that cooler through the store and to the curb before I lost it

After that I asked the nice man in the cooler what it was he was feeding me

Me too. And eating it from VERY young so I didn't have any preconceptions, I loved it. Still do. I like liverwurst too, but if I'm honest, I prefer braunschweiger.

I've been on a kick lately with braunshweiger. It's my work lunch sandwich (with onions of course). Every day. For over a month. I'll eventually tire of it for a while and obsess over another sandwich, which is a pattern of mine. But not yet.

I won my first cooking contest when I was 10 when I turned 16 my mother asked me to cook when she had friends over

    Mom was Irish

Every single day we had meat potato and vegetable

Meat was baked boiled or fried

Potato was baked boiled or fried

Vegetable was boiled and boiled and boiled..

Remember those rectangular frozen blocks of spinach boiled and boiled and boiled

    I miss mom

I lived up on the hill from the Heinz plant. There were days when you could go buy mislabeled soup and vegetables. Whatever was on the label was wrong and you had no idea what was really in the can. You had to buy a whole case. But it was cheap.

When my mother died she left me 20 pounds of frozen Lima beans from Agway. I didn’t waste them I ate them. It was a very long time until I ate them again.

On a side note my parents were in the military during a war stationed in England. They were served Brussel Sprouts for dinner every single night for 3 years.
