My son in law got called in at 4 this morning to deal with a fire at the hospital, just dumpster stuff, but he will be there till 4, so daughter called dad to become grill chef.

As I have not grilled for years, the menu has slightly changed.

Burnt like toast, charred to somewhat eatable, leather tough but bloody red in the middle. I might get enough skills back so the grandkids can get their dogs down with extra ketchup, but I make no promises.

Beyond that just regular 4th slop that tastes better with family around.

 

Or at least seem that way after the shots flow, even deeper and seemingly more intelligent the longer the conversation goes. "For the last time I say fire MT!" Dad you posted that 400 times already, lol.

I got work for tonight, and then after that, work playing music, so no for me. Plus I freaking hate fireworks. I lost interest at about the age 13 for them.
Although I did see a fireworks stand catch on fire in my 30s, and that was pretty cool. Talk about a display.

 

For our 200th I was in Germany. I found it odd that a country we went to war with 30 years earlier did a wonderful job helping us celebrate. As we were going up the Kiel Canal on July 4th they had fireworks for a good mile and tons of German people with signs saying Happy 200th America. We had to man the rail and all we did was enjoy the hot young ladies on little boats next to us.

 

But they sure the hell needed young American men to keep them from being little Germany.
