Tomlin has been all talk for at least 10 years.... Despite different players, the Steelers have had the same problems for several years, such as being too conservative on offense and poor defense come playoff time, but they haven't changed anything since then.

If the Steelers had given Fields a real chance instead of handcuffing him and then benching him, maybe the Steelers would have been in a different situation right now.

And also the steelers need a true rebuilding, starting over....I said that during the 2022 season and maybe the steelers would be in a better situation now but they are still stuck in the middle with so many 9-8 or 10-8 seasons

 

I think they're sitting too willy-nilly between retooling and competing. Doing either is difficult, both at the same time?

Continually drafting 17-24 will do that. Sometimes you need that top 5 draft pick in order to reset. It’s not a guarantee for success but it also could be the main ingredient to the recipe. They got Ben at 11 but that is only because there were 3 great 1st round QB’s out there.

Can the Steelers be like the 1972 Redskins? While that team didn't have any hall of famers, it did have several aging players that were all-pro or made the pro bowl team. This was also an era where only 4 teams made the playoffs in each conference. As stated in hundreds of posts, the Steelers will need an emerging offensive line, a QB that makes players around him better, and an aging defense to stay fresh. I actually like that the Steelers have changed over a significant part of their roster, over 40% of the starters. The Steelers should have a playoff roster. The Steelers are set up more to win a playoff game, better than anytime in the post-Roethlisberger area. The Steelers are having an interesting offseason, even if they do not win a playoff game. They still will have a number of young assets for 2026.

No they are not. You are using a mean average. Try using a median average. All teams are about the same age-wise.

 

My biggest worry headed into season. Older you get, longer to heal injuries. Got to get lucky and hope that injury bug doesn't visit often.
