According to Schefter, Ramsey will be getting a $1.5m raise. This brings his compensation for the 2026 season to $26.6m. Interesting move. Him and JPJ will be quite the tandem... This makes us a much better defense heading into the season. Wow.

Interested in what they gave up...but on paper that defense is looking pretty formidable.

I knew it was a done deal when Dulac said that it would never happen.

Straight up player-for-player trade. Steelers give up Minkah Fitzpatrick for Ramsey.

told you all last year Minkah sucked, head should be on a swivel, overpaid, etc...

Good bye, he lost steps, his best years are BEHIND HIM

So the final trade is (according to "sources"):

    Steelers Acquire -
    Jalen Ramsey
    Jonnu Smith
    2026 7th round pick

    Dolphins Acquire -
    Minkah Fitzpatrick
    2026 5th round pick

Eh, idk about that. He's not a top 3 CB like he was in his prime, but he's still pretty good. He also has the versatility to play slot, S, and "star" type positions. Minkah is 2 years younger, but he has been underperforming heavily (and was a likely cut candidate after the season). I actually like the deal a good bit. It seemed unlikely that Minkah would turn it around, and we end up getting someone that will give us quality production at a very important position... and we do so without having to cut Minkah and take on dead money (or try to trade him for nothing).

Does this mean Ramsey is gonna move to Safety?!

It worked out for the likes of him back in 2020 via Joe Staley. Not a full time role but situational.

Juan Thornhill or even Ramsey I assume.

Likely Juan. We shall see how that goes.

Me too. He was and is a high character guy. From what I've read of Ramsey he is also, so that's a plus.

If they're going to play him like Minka last year and just have him sit 30 yards back, they can find that.

Minkah, though probably more about scheme, hasn't done anything for 2 years. This also feels like Smith has full authority to run his offense. Overall, I like it. Picks and cap still look good, too. And players are still available.
