It was my 1st love of any sports. I didn't have that many fights, but My actual 1st fight I was 8 years old.
I wonder, do they still have them do that at that age???

Yes, my instructor was off the boat Korean, barely spoke any English. It’s very much like Akido but with more kicks. But for his school it focused more on breaks and throws since we were also learning Taekwondo.

Very cool. Always thought I would take it up at some point but never did. Had an interest in it from a young age, Gerry Cooney lived down the block from me.

That Holmes fight was very disappointing around here and Cooney didnt take it well at all, ended his career basically. Stories of him being drunk around town, getting thrown out of bars, not training anymore started surfacing after that fight. He was too green to face Holmes, should have waited a little longer.

Since you are focused on Korean martial arts, I trust you have looked into Sinanju? Other martial arts are shadows; Sinanju is the Sun.

It helped that Adrian Paul had far more skill as a martial artist than Christopher Lambert. Paul still does interactive martial arts exhibitions.

Both the final season and Highlander: Endgame, the movie that killed off Connor, were messes. I think this came up on another thread, but the final season of the show wasn't suppose to happen. Part of the problem was that Paul was working on both the same time. Season five was supposed to be the end of the series, so when it was renewed, the stories were weak and members of the cast were not available for some episodes. Duncan didn't appear at all in two episodes. Part of the idea was to try out different characters for possible spin-off series. That brought us the short-lived Highlander: The Raven, with Amanda as the protagonist.

Yeah thats right, I forgot about the trying different people out for the spin off. I dont remember the actresses name but there was one I thought was a shoo in for the Raven spin off, her name may have even been Raven on the episode she was in. I thought giving it to Amanda was the wrong choice.

There wasn't an episode called The Raven. Maybe you are thinking of the Reagan Cole character, who was one of the ones they tried out. She was a bounty hunter in the episode Deadly Exposure. I agree that she probably would have been better. Sandra Hess was the actress's name. She also played Sonya Blade in one of the Mortal Combat sequels, but I don't think she ever got a series lead. The other one I remember was married couple that did mercenary work, the immortal wife and mortal husband.

No, not that the episode was called Raven but that her name was Raven but yes, you got it, it was Reagan. Thats who I was thinking of. She would have been a good choice.

Honestly, I felt like he was solid, hard-working event after getting paid, but the concussions took a toll on his mind. He changed rapidly after a couple of concussions. I think he is going to be found (post-mortem) to have aggressive CTE when he passes on...

But yeah, getting paid and maybe having just the wrong type of "friends" (entourage, hanger-ons, leeches) can also take a big toll on an athlete's mind and self-awareness.

The Heroes and Icons station has been re-airing the series recently. I've been catching old episodes here and there, including that one a few weeks ago.

Answer. Because we don't draft WRs in the first round?

The Steelers love to draft WRs in the 2nd and 3rd round that come with Parental and Medical warnings. :lolol:

This is where I've been rewatching them. They restarted the whole series awhile back, and I've been DVRing them, and watching them. Also Star Trek:Enterprise.....the only Star Trek show I've never watched before.

I was young back then, but still remember the build to that fight. Boxing has really faded from the prominence it once had.

Did Holmes and Cooney end up as good friends? Pretty sure I read that once.

    I followed boxing back then

I didn’t even know it existed now

As corrupt as he was he certainly promoted the sport
