Dude they don’t even have a QB. They aren’t winning a SB this year. They are building for next year. Hell Howard may be a stud and next year will be like a candy store in the draft.

So what if he starts his bull**** this year and creates drama? He’s done it every year. They didn’t wanna take that risk this year. They were ready to move on.

I think they learned a lesson from Antonio Brown. Probably wouldn't pay him anyway

Yeah, that six-year stretch when they had the best receiver in the NFL was just awful.

I have and do manage people. There is a difference between being a bad manager and a bad recruiter. You can be the best manager in the world, but if you make a bad hire, you are typically doomed.

Tomlin has managed Pickens, AB, Claypool, DJ to name a few to quite a bit of success. Once there was no real juice left to squeeze he moved on. Story still out on Pickens, but the others did next to nothing after their exit. I think that shines a better light on Tomlin than you are giving him credit for.

Steelers got Pickens for a 2nd, traded him for a third going into the last year of his contract. I don't see the compensation as unfair. If he wasn't an immature child maybe they could have gotten more, but the reality is he would still be here maybe.

No matter how you slice this it still shows very bad judgment on Tomlin and Rooney. They either drove this decision and trade or allowed it to happen.

5 snaps and managed to come up with a Hamstring which ended his season.
JJ McCarthy did find him in the endzone 12 times his last year in college... other than that he was pedestrian.
I see they changed the depth chart and put Robert Woods in the starting lineup with Wilson backing him up.
So that changes a few things.
Well, a 33-year-old WR is starting.

Hopefully, someone comes to their senses tomorrow and signs Cooper.

I’m not talking about being a manager at Wendy’s. Its obvious why none of these guys went on to be successful. We set the precedent for acceptance of poor behavior and work ethic in the league.

I too thought we'd have something with Wilson and I had a thought of Aaron Rodgers with two guys who can catch a football giving us a chance but now I have no idea what is going to happen.

That will make me happy. As an Eagle hater I love when the other 3 teams in the NFC East get good players. I'm hoping Washington builds on that rookie QB who had one hell of a ride last season. Looks like I'll keep on rooting for Pickens.

Yeah... I posted earlier that losing Burress in '05, Holmes in '10 and Bryant in '18 were much worse losses than Pickens.

You have no clue about metcalf drama do you? I made a thread of it.

So that's dumb to get rid of a smaller cancer.

Then maybe recutiment at WR needs to be looked at, this is a long term well established trend. There's no doubt you have to be very careful at WR because it is without doubt the position that attracts the most assholery.

Of course they do, to you ;)

Personally, I don't think Pickens' value was as high as some seem to think - the market obviously didn't. Beyond that, there's also history - the Steelers have traded off a number of enigmatic receivers in recent years, and none ever returned to form/blossomed with their new club. Their track record in this arena is pretty solid.

The comp pick talk is just that, talk. We don't know that he'd perform well enough to garner a contract large enough to put a third in play to begin with - sure, Metcalf was going to take some of the defenders away from him, but he was going to take some taking targets away as well. Plus we still don't know who's going to be throwing them the football.

They already admitted they were protecting next year's comp picks with their approach to free agency. If they're trying to stockpile the picks, this nets them another third. And as for bypassing the position in this year's draft, my guess is that they're treating Wilson as their de facto WR selection.

I'm higher on Roman Wilson than almost anyone but there's no way I'm just making him a starter right now.

Available WRs: Cooper, K.Allen, G.Davis, Agholor, Boyd, Chark, Conley, Crowder

Amari Cooper would be excellent. He still has some gas left in tank. The others.... not so sure. Keenan Allen looks washed up.

Coaching is worse than the front office and ownership. Need to upgrade coaching from top down in 2026.
