Metcalf is not remotely a cancer. Where is this coming from? If anything he is considered a team guy that gives his all on the field like running a 100 yards to chase down and prevent a pick six. Does he have a history of quitting on plays like Pickens does? Because Im sorry but wanting the football does not make one a cancer, every WR wants the ball, some are more outspoken about it.

The only thing Im aware of that Metcalf has done is demand a trade when contract negotiations stalled.

    Yeah I did that Chief:

No, DK Metcalf is not widely considered a locker room cancer. While he has been known to have a fiery personality and sometimes exhibit strong emotions on the field, there's no strong evidence to suggest he's a toxic presence in the locker room. In fact, some sources even suggest he is a positive and well-liked teammate.

You’re running around claiming he is some big cancer and you cant name a single thing other than going to AI. Total nonsense that he is a cancer and not even close to being as bad as Pickens.

I want to agree with you about the FAFO message, but if you have THAT MANY examples to sight and they WRs aren’t getting the FO part then the list will countinue to stack the with guys F-ing-A.

This....DK may well have complaints on the field if our WR room plays out like last year, and this should be expected, but the various trades that have been spoken about in the threads today (AB, DJ, some others) have a common theme, they all quit the team, perhaps Pickens not the team directly, but definitely half hearted work while plays were in action. I have no doubt he can and likely will be a top WR this year, but I also understand the business aspect. Can you invest that much guaranteed money times 2, with a guy who has been that disgruntled (through reports). We actually do not know squat, except what we have seen. A guy with exceptional talent who quits when he feels like it, the CAP is unforgiving after the contract is signed.

Exactly and you never would catch DK failing to block on a play like Pickens did preventing Warren from scoring a TD.

I wanted them to keep him because they would just have to deal with him for one more year while you have a very dynamic 1-2 punch but it’s absurd trying to make DK out to be worse than Pickens.

no 2 of those articles were before his trade.

here we go son. buckle up.
    1. 2021 Met was EJECTED after grabbing the facemask of not one, but TWO defenders in the packers game.
    2. He even tried to re-enter the game after his ejecti9on
    3. 2024 Met had a physical altercation with Bears player where he literally headbutted him. which lead to not one but TWO penalties
    4. Met vs 49ers
    5. High penalty rate he draws 3 times as many penalties, including numerous 10 and 15 yard infractions.
    6. Fined by the shield for $11,255 for unnecessary roughness penalty on the giants in 2024.
    7. despite penalties, Met flat out told the media "I'm not going to change the way I play or who I am"
    8. Met learned sign language so he would not get penalties for taunting and talking trash.
    9. Pete Carrol even said the team tracks the penalties that Met causes and that Met was the leader in penalties.
    10. you think steeler fans were bad with complaining about pickens atitude? Ha, seahawk fans had articles written by non seahawks beatwriters for them.
    11. Dude fights during training camp (hence why I said our beat writers will be writing day one he gets into camp)
    12. fined for hit on Witherspoon
    13. Met swung his freaking helmet at his own teammate.

kid, you seriously had no idea did you? like I said, media will be getting paid this year, they have plenty of stuff that Met will give them to write about.

You have no idea if they spoke to Pickens about the Metcalf trade or not. You are making that up. Please don't do that. It does nothing for the conversation.

Khan is the GM who failed to get proper value for Pickens. That is definitely on him.

Not letting Tomlin off the hook for his lack of success is one thing...putting GP on Tomlin other than taking the risk on drafting him is laughable. How have the good talent players done after leaving Tomlin and the Steelers? Tomlin deserves lots of criticism, but saying he is mismanaging them is a wild take.

You are right...I don't know what JJ or JC would have done in this system. But what I do know...is that GP could not perform all his tasks in this system because he was an immature child. And that is something that I am fine with sending to the Cowboys.

You can’t possibly prove what value is “proper” and pass judgement on it.

however, it does seem shameful to get a third rounder.

Thats what you got out of my whole response. If they did go to him do you think this all would have went down like this. Come on.... Based on their history of how they have handled other players its pretty obvious how this went down. Tomlin absolutely runs from conflict. When they were bringing in Wilson there was some obvious miscommunication with Pickett that pissed off Pickett. How about when they signed that Edge from San Diego who got pisssed off with the communication and wanted out. Its a pattern. The team is effectively getting worse as a result of it.

Your expected value does not equal theirs obviously. You think they turned down 2nd round picks? Clearly they couldn't get more so they went with what they could (and kudos to them if they held strong and didn't take a 4th from the Cowboys as reported).

You may be able to stomach another year of GP on your couch, but clearly they had enough.

You obviously don’t understand tenure, personalities, through the tea leaves or how to read the room. What’s on paper isn’t always reality.

Despite the talent, Pickens is a head case. That’s the main reason he was available where he was. The Steelers gambled they could fix him. They couldn’t.

Given the track record of head cases the Steelers gave up on, I don’t think Pickens has a long, productive career ahead of him.

So we trade Pickens for the same we could've got in a comp pick. Should've just kept him and let him pout.

Have you ever managed people? When you have experience in doing so , it is pretty easy to spot a poor manager. How many people do we have to continually trade away because of poor behavior? At some point we need to ask ourselves why does this keep happening to us?

I am fine in trading Pickens away if the timing were right and we were fairly compensated for it. That is not the case in this situation.

How did he fail? Reports were they were asking a 2nd at the draft, reports said they were offered no more than a 4th. Now those reports may be all BS, but the value is what you can get. Besides all the banter in the media and the comments by all involved (GP, those within the org) they wanted to trade him and they did. Omar can't snap his fingers and make others offer a 1st, the toxic or perhaps feared toxicity of having him around this season was enough for Omar to get a trade done. Does is suck for the fans who wanted to finally see a decent WR group on the field, yep, but the end was in sight when he was put on the block during the draft. For whatever reasoning, he was not going to be part os the Steelers immediate or future plans.
