According to a report by Gerry Dulac, Tomlin has more freedom now. If that is to be believed, this makes even less sense given how sympathetic Tomlin has been with Pickens.

Trading Pickens sure isn't going to help the Steelers in signing Rodgers. That's the one thing we had going for us, having 2 weapons for Rodgers to throw to. I had a feeling Rodgers was never going to sign with the Steelers regardless, but definitely not now.

My point is they got a 3rd and a 5th for Pickens, I'm not worried if they had to give up a 6th in 2027.

Man its been that long we have gad numerous trash qbs. I know its hard to find a franchise qb, but Steelers should’ve been working on that scenario before Ben retired

I agree but it's one of the options out there. Wait on darkness retreats Rodgers, trade for Cousins and his ridiculous guaranteed salary this year, or roll with Mason and Howard. I know they have a lot of wiggle room but maybe not enough to work with in a trade for Cousins. I'd hope that they aren't trying that angle.

I agree and would place him under Rodgers who is not the answer either I'm just looking for an imperfect answer to this really imperfect trade.

Maybe this is our (Khan`s) way of tanking the season.

Might as well trade Watt away for 2026 draft pick too.

I can agree with that. I just think they made themselves a worse team this year.

Was looking forward to seeing teams try and defend him and Metcalf.

Maybe look at both sides of the equation before sounding off, Holmes had legal issues and instead of offering a contract they dumped him, after the trade he had years of 746, 654, 272, 456, and 272 receiving yards...with the trade we traded yet again, got AB.

AB was traded for a 1st to Buffalo, he refused the trade..so they got a 3rd and 5th from the Raiders. AB became a pain in the a$$. quit on his team. Was with the Raiders for a short time and released, quit on the Bucs, with that trade we got Johnson. He was a decent receiver, again quit on his team and was traded, dumped by several teams in one year.

What I saw in GP was times of exceptional talent, and times of I think I will take this play off. Did not block, was a silent cancer ready to erupt. If someone thought he was worth a 2nd, it would have been offered at the draft. We got a 3rd and 5th (swapped with 6th), is it perfect, no, but you cut the cancer not having to deal with a guy whose attitude and actions you cannot control.

That the team did something stupid is not the flex you think it is.

1 season, one more freaking season they had to deal with him. STUPID MOVE.

Gabe Davis was just cut by the Jags this week, he is a capable WR when healthy but he too is coming off of a knee injury he had last November.

How do you know that they will be worse? Maybe someone else will step up. Maybe Will Howard will be our franchise qb. Have faith my man.
I understand Pickens has talent, but he is and was not good for team chemistry.

It makes alot more sense to me. Tomlin is very reactionary. He doesn’t like friction or hostages as he states it. I don’t think Tomlin deals well with conflict. It was worth for Tomlin to trade Pickens and not deal with the friction and conflict on a weekly basis. There is a reason Tomlin hires yes men on his coaching staff. Tomlin doesn’t like to be challenged. Isn’t it obvious in the interviews. To me this is once again a reflection of Rooney failing to place any accountability on Tomlin for his ineificcienceis as a coach. To fail in adequately filling the QB position is on Tomlin. To fill in getting the right coaching staff in here to coach up the offensive line, the QB’s , the WR’s and ultimately the offense is on Tomlin. The engine that drives offenses in todays league is the QB and the WR. Tomlin clearly doesn’t know how to manage an offense or those types of players. Don’t forget Fields left here as well when he could have stayed with a familiar offense and had a chance to start this year.
