That author looked at QBs who changed teams, and teams that had multiple QBs during the same season.

He didn't look at a change in play calling, like when the Steelers' OC went from Arians (Ben averaged 3.6 sacks/game from 2007-2011) to Haley (1.9 sacks/game from 2012-2017).

Thank you for so easily debunking that nonsense.

These folks on here mesmerized about Arch coming out next year. Chances are very high he doesn’t.

Personally, I think elements of both are in play. QBs have a style that can be more or less susceptible to being sacked, just as good protection from the OL or separation from the WRs or adept play-calling can mitigate pressure.

So I don't think it's 'nonsense', but I would be interested in the the report you mentioned. I don't think it's all on the QB's style, as I had some issue with some of the data/results from which they drew conclusions.

Sacks/game is a bad metric. Depends on # of dropbacks.

And one data point isn't much to draw conclusions on... but, thanks for the example.

Something sad about Purdy only one left on same team. That is only 3 years. NFL sure has changed.

I refer to the notion that it is primarily on the quarterback nonsense. It was backed by one very flawed study that he presented as if it were incontrovertible truth. It is not.

What we are hoping for is that Rodgers becomes the first QB to win a SB with the team he beat in the SB;)

Aaron Rodgers' pending career decision has become much of an afterthought for the majority of the league. Once a titan of the quarterback position, he is now largely unwanted for a multitude of reasons that extend beyond his apparent decline on the field.

One suitor truly remains in the Rodgers sweepstakes, that is assuming he wants to continue playing at all. The Pittsburgh Steelers are the lone team still without a solid plan of action at quarterback for next season.

Mason Rudolph and Will Howard are the top two options though neither are really a convincing play. There is certainly an argument for an aged Rodgers having more value here than either of those two.

Regardless, Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio is urging Rodgers to wait on making a decision until after May 14 when the league is set to announce the schedule for the 2025 season.

I read this on Yahoo. Maybe we will know something come May 14th?????? Rodgers is a prick.

Yeah, we get that. But thank you for laying it out again.

I wanted to see your counterpoint study. While there are parts of the one presented that are interesting, there are also flaws I was curious to see if it addressed.

Maybe Rodgers is planning a big Mother's Day celebration for himself, so he will be busy until later that week.

I still think Rodgers is holding out hope Minnesota calls him. Or, Maybe he wants to wait until the season starts and then decide what contender he wants to go to when their franchise QB goes down. If all he wants is to Win another Super Bowl, why not wait and put yourself on a winning team for the stretch run when their starter goes down?

Speaking of waiting, didn't Roger Clemmons do this at the end of his career; joining a team that was playoff bound during the season?

Yes Clemens did this in his last 2 years of his career(but the astros did not make the playoffs in 2006 and Clemens was not very good with the yankees in 2007) but major difference between a Qb and anything in baseball since in football the practice with the receivers, o-line,etc, matters big time, so if you arrive in the middle of the season, the chances of success will be very low

Heard on the radio Manning could make between $30-40M in NIL money. He's staying in college and gonna be PAID like an NFL QB.

Just asking, but the Qbs change in the style of play had nothing to do with that???

Well if He does like Peyton, and Eli, He will play for 4 years....so that would give Him at least 2 more years .

It's a statistical study (not a perfect correlation) that shows it is primarily a QB metric. The only flaw you can seem to come up with is the OC factor. You find one or two examples and claim the study is 'nonsense'. That doesn't negate all the evidence to the contrary. Show me your statistically significant study and I'll listen.... Otherwise, your welcome to your flawed opinion.

Yet the OC difference that someone came up with here between Hailey, and Arians actually came down to the Qb, because Ben didn't play the same way under Hailey as He did Arians.....so therefore it's back to the Qb again. I agree that sacks are a big part on the Qb, not always, nothing is always, but a lot of time.

Well if He does like the other Mannings he would stay in college, and play for 4 years like they did, NIL money , or no....it's not like the Mannings need money. They alway have preached learning all they could while playing in college.

Arch hasn’t played a full season yet. It would behove him to play 2 full seasons. Like you said, Money isn’t an issue to the Mannings
