Man I just can't wait for the great Aaron Rodgers to come to Pittsburgh. He will be the difference in a 9 and 8 season and 8 and 9 season!!!!

Thats what I was figuring, would be announced after the draft this week.

If it drags on past this week I may join those clamoring for the Steelers to tell him to GFY.

    The dissention sounds like homie-isms.
First and foremost, Rogers can command a decent payday but not a crazy one. I doubt the Steelers haven't already agreed to a pay window.
I mean, that had to done to even open the door for interests.

In reviewing the film of last year, Mason and Rogers.... Rogers looks like Tom Brady compared Mason.
The Jets are difficult to get any sort of reading on a QB, they suck. He did manage 3,800 yds and 28 Tds'... though it was rough to watch.
I am on board with '41-year-old-QB' issue - that isn't good. But I am hoping the Steelers are looking at that during workouts.
    So if:
    - Contract is not bad.
    - He still can play at a high level.
    - He is fairly evaluated during the preseason (hey, if he can't play he can be a backup to get us through this year)
    - We agree to keep his uniform clean (really try to put a lid on sacks)
    - We agree to get him some guys that can catch.
    - We run an offense that makes sense.
Then things should work out decently.

All I am interested in is giving Howard some time and seeing if maybe he has starter potential or is a career backup and going after a real QB in 26.

I like Cousins, but not in Pittsburgh. It is not a fit.

Yes, because he has what, 18 years of starting reps and in game experience. And Mason has 0. It's time the Steelers give a good QB out of college starting experience and window. Rodgers is a waste of time. Just like Ben was in his last contract. He is at the retirement door. There is no quick fix. The fix is to give Mason or Howard the 4 year window and reps.

3,800 yds and 28 tds is a waste of time?
How about not drafting a franchise QB before this? There's a waste of time.
The window is closed my friend, Rogers or Cousins are the only options for help.

    To rehash,
Mason is no different than he has ever been. He had that little string of success that is given waaay too much credit for.
I have said many times over, he is a good spot starter and he will be starting for Rogers at some point.
Howard hasn't played a down (though I am excited to see where this goes.)

So Rogers buys us time this season... the coaching has an idea via preseason and practices of Howards potential, or lack thereof, and in 26 there is no reason not to grab your franchise QB.

It's not me to be mad at, it is the Front Office and Coaching that screwed the pooch on QB.

Nobody is giving Mason Rudolph a four-year window. Nobody is giving him a one-year window. Howard isn't getting one, either, unless he gets to play and steps up to earn it this year. Sixth-round picks don't get that sort of commitment.

The NYJ had no running game last season so Rodgers had to carry the team with his passing. That would not be the case if he signs with the Steelers. They should have an average to above average running game, thus taking some load of Rodgers.

    I agree!
The Jets should be banned from even having a QB, all they ever do is get them killed.

After what he did with the Jets? Our o line will give him zero time to throw. Aaron is not much for scrambling. I kljusy don't see him making that kind of contribution

I had a thread asking about our 2025 O-line. I'm hoping the young guys come together. We have first round draft picks there (not that that matters) They now have a few seasons under their belts. I agree about Rodgers but still think with the weapons he should have, he'll produce. For him to produce we will need some semblance of a running game. I'm not sure how that is going to work out. Maybe it's all for naught and Mason will guide us?????

I can see your point. I think the organization just could never stomach a 3-4 win season as other NFL teams have. Not saying that would happen with Mason but I don't think the Steelers think he can be a true #1.????? Steelers have decent talent especially if current draft produces early. IMO Rodgers would make them competitive. IMO Mason is not the future for any NFL team. Howard? If we do get Ahole, I mean Arod I hope he has the decency to help the kid.

Last good season for Rodgers was in 2021 or 4 years ago.His mobility is gone and it was a huge strength for him during his prime but now this is no longer the case.He will be 41 this season, the only QB in NFL history who was still good at 41 or older was Tom Brady.....I don't expect miracle for Rodgers if he is with us even if he would be our best possible option right now

Mason has more than zero. Had he performed better (or shown more potential) in the stint he did have, he would have been given more opportunity. I like Mason, and think he's a really good back up option for us, but we can't just assume that he will always be the guy he was for two weeks against the Bengals and the Seahawks in 2023. The "4 year window" is earned. Mason didn't and Howard has to show he deserves that type of commitment before we should just hand it to him.

There is literally nothing wrong with buying a year of Rodgers, assessing Howard's potential, and determining if we need to go all in on a first round QB next year.

There is no way 4-5 win season happens with Mason. Mason is a 0.500 QB off the bench, with no starting experience.

    You are wrong

    Again

    Mason has 18 starts

Equal to more than a full season

    Google is your friend

What the hell is that supposed to mean? If he starts the game he isn't coming off the bench. He's started 18 games and has a 9-8-1 record. That is indisputable.
