Good to see you back in the draft threads and beyond. I put this here because why start a new thread few would see, lol. On some rarely listened to FSR radio show there was a guest who writes for some Brooklyn publication, on Friday's he covers HS sports. It appears to be regional, perhaps some national interest. Anyway he spoke of the portal and the impact on recruiting, Coaches who send him info on their teams have collectively said recruiting has become has nearly become non-existent. 5 star guys sure, but the portal has become so full that guys who may be 3 and even 4 star are not getting attention. He had one lettter/email from a student who said he was thinking of going straight to the portal. IDK if that is even possible, but the results are that a lot of these kids go the lower ranks just hoping to get an opportunity to at least play and then enter the postal to get to a bigger program.

It's just a totally different world, Division 2 as always had the 2 and 3 star players, but 3 and even 4 star who used to get looks and scholarships are regulated to smaller lower programs, kind of like a minor league status, hoping to play good enough to get looks in the portal. It is what it is, but forgotten is the one thing that is supposed to be the nucleus, they are still students. Transferring U's has always happened, but not at this rate. There has always been the 'athlete stigma', how much do they really learn, but when you transfer year in and out, how does a U really calculate a program designed for that particular course of study? Let's just call it what it is, pro sports development, with the chosen few making the big time.

 

Here is a point for the transfer portal.

BYU QB Jake Retzlaff was accused of rape, and then admitted to the sex, but said it was consensual. The Police declined to charge Jake. In civil court Jake presented a series of Texts from the girl from weeks and months after the event with her trying to hook backup with the QB. The Judge tossed the case out and ruled in a way the girl could never ever bring back charges against Jake. That is how bad this fake rape case was.

BYU has a "Virgin" only policy that the players have to sign to go to school there. Premarital sex is against their code of conduct. Because Jake admitted to having sex with this girl, he was informed he would be suspended for the first 7 games of the season his senior year. Shorty after Jake put his name into the transfer portal.

Score 1 win for the transfer portal, because BYU's "Virgin Only" policy is just plain stupid!!!
