I think Mike Tomlin, Danny Smith, and Cam Heyward are the only people still with the team.

True but the problems are still the same because our defensive scheme are outdated and they are exposed almost everytime against good offense

What happened to the Lions just a few months ago? They got torched by a rookie and their DC left for a HC job. Teams lose, stuff happens. Dating this current team is the same as 2016 and nothings changed is just hyperbole and complaining to complain.

But welcome back to the forum.

It can happen sometimes, but when it happens every time and you change almost nothing in your philosophy after that, it's a huge red flag!

That would be true if nothing had actually changed. But it has changed.

    1. We play a base 4-2-5 now. Not traditional 3-4.

    2. We have drafted man-man CBs over the Zone/tackle the catch CBs we used to draft.

    3. Butler to Austin is not following the same defensive philosophy. It's just not.

Your assessment that nothing has changed defensively since 2016 is just not true. At best it's hyperbole, at worst it's just dumb.

True but the result are still the same....The steelers gave up too many easy quick throw of 7-8 yards against good team, they often struggle vs run, etc. It's still a bend but don't break style defense

What teams are playing the 'break but don't bend philosophy?'

C'mon, you understand what I mean.

The best example is the Eagles in their last two Super Bowls vs Chiefs.

In 2022, they played soft coverage all game long and they were awful and lost the SB despite scoring 35 points on offense.

In 2024, they didn't give the Chiefs any easy throw. The Chiefs had like just one first down in the first half, and their tight coverage was a huge difference from 2022, and it helped their pass rush get to Mahomes. If Mahomes knew who to throw to in his first half, the Eagles' pass rush wouldn't have mattered.

Do not want Shadeur Sanders and all the drama that comes with him. Here's what Merrill Hoge had to say about him:

    https://www.steelernation.com/2025/04/23/merril-hoge-warning-steelers-haunt

Hoge warned that drafting Sanders could be a costly mistake. He believes taking a quarterback in this class—particularly one with question marks like Sanders—could set the franchise back two or three years. As the draft approaches, the Steelers are facing a critical decision that could shape their future for better or worse.

"The best way to sum him up is he's a really good college quarterback," Hoge said. "His accuracy is good. His processing is good. And when I say good, I use a scale from one to 10, okay? So good is around five. So if you're a five in college, okay? Those are the two most important aspects of transitioning to the National Football League and then you build from there. Anticipation, pocket awareness and then we start building. But those two things, if you're a five, you're not a first rounder. You're not a franchise guy."

I like Cam Skattebo. The one player that really reminds me of Hines Ward. He's tough, can catch like a receiver, and can throw the ball.
I am not talking about taking him in the 1st.

The Same Hoge who thought that Kenny Pickett was a good choice? Yeah, right.

    Wish list:

    QB

    1st rd

Sanders: I know there is a mix crowd on his abilities but I just feel he can be that guy. I think he has all the intangibles and having a 24/7 coach former HOF player to help him navigate through any struggles is a plus. He’s been groomed his whole life for this, he knows the game, can make every throw and doesnt get rattled. I’ll be very happy if his name is called by the Steelers tonight.

    Day 2 and later.
Howard: The only reason I have doubts about Howard is because EVERYONE else does. So I’m like what am I missing but love his size and he is familiar with an NFL offense, has a good arm and can also make all the throws. I think he probably gets dinged too much for the talent he had around him. I’ll be happy if they select him but will be cautiously optomisitc.

My wild card, Riley Leonard: I would use a 7th rd pick on Riley if he is still there. If he can become a more consistent passer and iron out some mechanics he could surprise. At the very least, you have a capable BU for years to come.

    RB:

    Day 2 and later.

SKATTEBO! Love this kid, love his whole game, this is my draft crush. Sadly they only held a formal meeting at the combine. Long shot for him to be called this draft.

The Hamptons and Hendersons and Judkins of the draft probably arent there in the 4th so my next choice would be Ollie.

Other than QB in the first, I prefer DL.

    Mason Graham
    Kenneth Grant
    Derrick Harmon
    Walter Nolen

Would be happy with any of those tonight.

Fill out at roster plenty a good pieces n position of need. Stay away from QB it’s a wasted pick n my opinion.
