If McCarthy doesn't land a new HC job, Mike Solari might be available. At 70ish he's got a lot of miles and taught a lot of players.

From the college ranks, I wish we could pry away Jim Harding from Utah.
Or maybe Phil Trautwein from PSU?

Since we're trying to build like the Eagles, why not their run game specialist/assistant OLC TJ Paganetti? Considering he's worked the Eagles run game, he can help install similar concepts into the Arthur Smith playbook as well as being the OLC here.

The one thing I love about other staffs/compared to ours is the flexibility these assistant coaches have.

Was he there when Weidel was? Not that it matters, but the concept is stellar. We brought in a guy whose line was something like 28th in the league previously, but success breeds success (usually, and unlike MT;s massive coaching tree).

No, he came in the same year Weidle left. He's a young coach that kinda bounced around position groups.

But if Smith were to leave, my OC candidate would be Pass Game Coordinator from Washington, Brian Johnson. Dude worked with Hurts and Jaden Daniels and would certainly know how to use Fields. Plus he has a relationship with Paganetti that could be fruitful. The key would Mr. Obviously letting these guys implement this style of offense.

Why does everyone claim that they want young and innovative ideas for the franchise then propose dinosaurs? Just out of curiosity.

I prefer guys that have been around and, they usually know more. They've seen more. They typically have more connections.

im not sure I claimed that I wanted young and innovative ideas for the franchise but anyway

is he not considered the best OL coach in the NFL?

maybe not but I thought he was

I def believe that we need the best to teach and guide our youngsters if we are ever going to get better
regardless of how old they are.

Is McCarthy being interviewed by other teams?

Probably. I read the Saints want Glenn but he said he would want the Jets job. I'm sure McCarthy will get an interview there as well.

There is only one name. Do whatever you have to do to bring him back here.

I don’t think he left on the best of terms

Maybe his disagreement was with the last OC but I read recently he was told to coach one way and he refused

Then he left and went to Denver saying he wanted to be near family

I never heard that reason before. Just that he wanted to be close to family.

I did a very quick search and did not find the article instantly

He does have a connection to Smith during their time together at Tennessee (a position he held with the team from 2014-2018)

I wasn't necessarily saying you in particular, but the overwhelming sentiment in SN is that Tomlin can't adapt to modern football and has nobody on his staff that can present those. I do agree that age shouldn't matter and the best person for the job should get it. I'm just surprised the names selected are of guys a step away from a Sr. Care Facility (figuratively speaking).

Anyone that can get the line to block better for our QB--- I don't care who. Just so they know how to teach blocking better than the loser we have.

TJ Paganetti of the Eagles, Steve Oliver of the Lions, Dwayne Ledford of the Falcons or Zak Kromer of the Rams. Those are some of the best that I could think of. More I am sure but these four do come to mind.
