Wasted a pick on Roman Wilson too.

They've not used him (MW), they don't know how to use the weapons they've got either (CA PF MW DW). This has been happening for years, it just shows you how much Big Ben completely carried Tomlin and his team.

Yeah, from 2007-2018. Ben didn't carry much after his elbow injury. Fitzpatrick acquisition.... and Watt and Dupree excellent performance helped Steelers win a lot of games in 2020. It was no coincidence when Dupree was out on IR.... Steelers started losing games and then throttled by the Browns in the playoffs.

He carried the team for a long long time, we haven't had a QB even close to prime BB since.

I think folks calling for this to be blown up based on the last 2 weeks are underestimating the impact that losing Pickens has had on the offense.

Not need to blowup the team, need a few good players here and there. What is most worrying me is that changes to coaches takes forever and Im not even talking about Tomlin because we know that will never happen with the Rooney. But the OC and DC need a lot to be desired in comparison to great teams and I think Tomlin either does not want the changes and he is not capable of getting great young coaches to help with schemes and roster.

We haven’t had a franchise qb since our future member of the hof qb retired? That’s a pretty outlandish take. I mean they grow on trees which makes them easy to replace

Tomlin refuses to innovate and change. Rooneys refuse to innovate and change. Innovate or be doomed to middle of the pack which will eventually lead to obsolescence. The Steelers have been stuck in the ditch between the top tier who play championship caliber football and the bottom feeders who are competing for top draft picks every year. There are enough consecutive years of this to know it's a pattern. Until there is a real commitment to change the pattern, the steelers will continue to live in the ditch.

Steelers didnt really play bad yesterday, it was two crucial turnovers that killed them.

Defense is hemorrhaging though and that stat about redzone defense they flashed during the game, first 8 games or something like that they were near the top in preventing scores and since then near bottom. Need to fix that in a hurry.

But in regards to this topic, I think the OP is mostly talking about a change at the top. Talent wise, they have quite a bit.

Blowing it up doesn’t guarantee success, could set yourself back even further. Just cut the dead weight and do your best to draft right and make good FA signings.

I was listening to scout’s eye view a few weeks back. He mentioned something about the Steelers faced the worst offenses in the first half or season .and the best offenses in the second

    Exactly the two turnovers

But most games swing on 5 plays or less

Make one play against Dallas and we win that game

I think we can beat Baltimore if we are full strength especially if it is in Pittsburgh

So we need to play to win all of our remaining games and none of this rest players gobbledygook

The media darlings, Shanahan and McVay are competing for their very lives this season. Tomlin had a playoff spot clinched with 5 weeks remaining. BTW, the Steelers were predicted by the 'experts' to finish last in the division.

I didn't say that, I said "even close" to...that's not the same thing, or even close to the same thing as saying we haven't had a franchise QB sine BB retired. If you're going to try be pedantic about what someone else posted, then do try to at least be accurate yourself...

    It’s more fine tuning

I understand the OP's frustration. They are not going to blow it up though and like you mentioned they have a young base to build upon. Its the coaching staff that to me is holding this team back.

Tomlin if he doesn't get a win in the post season this year (where i'm leaning not) he will have three more seasons to get that elusive playoff win. Art II made sure of it. And if they fail in the playoffs Art II will come out with his pom pom's and soft shoe the season.

The road gets harder. Chiefs. Who are playing for the #1 seed. Then the bungles who might still be in play for a playoff spot. And Burrow would love nothing more then to throw a 400 game against us. And the way this secondary is playing even with all healthy is suspect.

So we shall see how it all plays out. But it's getting old. Like being on a Merry Go Round that won't stop. Hopes high then agony...

Don't know that yet. Injured. But they did put a lot of stock in him. So was Fautanu was a wasted pick?

We didn’t lose because of coaching. We lost because of two terrible plays by Wilson and over 50% of the starting defense out due to injury.

I like this kids upside for sure. And Austin III has been ballin. But they are not the true #2 that is needed. The draft hopefully can fill that void.

Yeah, we've been outscored 27-7 in the second half of the last two games. With the TOP heavily favoring the opponents. Being unable to get off of the field as the opponent just drains the clock is rough. Ravens had the ball 8 of the last 9 minutes. The defense could've been the saviors and not let them drive 98 yards for a TD after Wilsons fumble as well.

I was actually encouraged by the offense, considering we were missing GP. They just came up short at the end.

Everybody is pointing at the pick 6 as the dagger, and it was, but the series before that was almost as bad. When the Steelers had 1st and 10 in Ravens territory at the end of the 3rd, down by 7, and proceeded to run ,perhaps, the worst 4 play succession that I've ever seen, only to give the ball to the Ravens at midfield and a 50 yard run to Henry, that was huge.
