Bob Labriola reports that the Steelers have signed David Johnson to a one year deal. Personally, I didn't think he'd be back.

My guess is that it's a vet minimum deal with no signing bonus, or a tiny signing bonus. For him, I believe the vet min is 630k.

Probably so, though I believe the min is $715K for him.

Yeah. I guess this means DJ's knee has healed well.

The bigger concern here is Heaths injury.

$715k? Does 2012 count as an accrued season? I'm trying to remember whether we put him on IR, or released him last preseason.

Johnson got the chance to come back probably because of Heath's injury he already knows the offense.

I disagree. The biggest concern here is that we just SIGNED DAVID JOHNSON!!!! LOL. Man this guy is horrible and every time I see him I am like "what are you doing here dude??" I don't know why but he just rubs me wrong. I'm sure he's a swell guy. It's just that me and him don't gee and ha.

^THIS. If we were party to all the off-field interactions/disciplinary problems, we still would complain. He started his career with a suspension, after problems @ South Carolina. He quickly got the gate here. He already had a pattern of being a problem child. Maybe he didn't toe the line like he promised.

If we weren't in a short-term TE crisis, this DJ signing would be a definite fail.

I have read this before but Saunders had 2 receptions for 15 yards in Indy this past season so he didn't set the world on fire. BA was pretty familiar with his capabilities so why wouldn't he have used him more?

This is what I was hoping for as soon as I saw that we'd signed him.

Anyone know how much of his salary will count against the cap if we cut him before the season starts?

I haven't been able to find contract details yet. In my cap model I am assuming it's a simple vet minimum 1 year deal with no guaranteed money, and that wouldn't hurt us if he's cut. If we paid anything more than a token 20k signing bonus, then shame on us, because he almost certainly had no other suitors.

World's worst football player coming off an ACL tear (who happened to be a Pittsburgh Steeler)... I bet Arizona would sign him.

Just to update this, the contract was for the minimum $715,000. No SB etc.
