He's not the same dominant DPOY caliber of player, the last game he dominated was the season opener. He got outplayed in Primetime by that piece of crap Myles Garrett, I'm not sure Watt even had a QB hit tonight. The big play on defense we were all waiting for came from Herbig not Watt with a strip sack to help the Steelers get back in the game.

I can’t see them doing that, but they do have a decision to make…Herbig is very impressive.

He's been dealing with a grade 3 lat tear. He tore it from carrying the team for too long.

Watt shouldn't even be in the DPOY conversation this season, unless he goes on a tear in these last seven games.

Nothing to talk about, he's washed. People flamed me when I said they should trade him while he was still worth something, but it's too late now.

TJ lined up in the same predictable spot every play, Garrett was lined up all over the place.

His best years are over. He hit the wall in just 1 seasons time. It’s a shame the guy was so dominate for years but ended up being wasted with a crap HC. He never showed up in the playoffs either though being honest.

The Browns plotted for TJ and executed very well. They shut him down.
But at some point, others have to step up.
For example, the secondary couldn't cover anyone and let a guy that is well known to throw it to other team, look like Tom Brady.
The defense as a unit, did not look prepared at all.

    On offense.
    What is going on there?
WTF is it with Mike Williams. We gave up some capital to get him in here and this is the kind of game you need a big guy like him to be on the field.
It's real obvious that Russell Wilson's best days are gone. He can operate the offenses just barely enough. He still throws a beautiful deep ball though noticeably with less pepper on it.
QB is still written in pencil here.
The other day, I thought play-calling wasn't the issue... I have to eat those words. On 4th down, Smith called the worst plays ever.
It didn't help that the offensive line as a unit played terrible.
And coaching, they did not game plan for Garret at all and made him a reputation... good job there.
Terrible prep on a short week coach, terrible.

So, for now TJ has to stew in the juices of criticism and ridicule. Let that fire burn as motivation.
He got out played last night. Coaching didn't help, they came up with zero adjustments, no different looks, no different schemes to get pressure, nothing but the same old base play.

A loss can provide motivation, let's hope this does.

The NFL does not inspire longevity. He is aging and played hard for years. Pittsburgh hero for sure but it's a what have you done for me lately league.

You can tell TJ is frustrated sometimes doesn’t congratulate teammates getting sacks. He is always a hair away now. They chip him and get rid of the ball fast so he’s neutralized. I blame the DC for doing the same predictable lineup every play, so opposing teams do the same.

it is on Tomlin, all the time. This is a Tomlin team. you said it. Terrible prep - MT mailed it in, he read the press clipping and Tic Tok threads, said "we are 8-2"

7 straight Q's and no TD's. Too little too late in the 4th.

Prepare for another loss in January, it has a high likelihood. They think they can run Najee every first down, in the 1st Q , start slow and WIN. that is not how you win in today's game. He does not get it.

and don't get me started on our 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1 packages. he sucks.

Some of it is the predictability of the defense. Some is teams doing a good job with chips and double-teams. Some is Watt not being the same player. I still think he has been playing hurt for over a month. I can't remember if it was against Dallas or Indy, but Watt reached for a tackle and winced on a play right before halftime. He hasn't been right since.

That's the thing I beat up Austin for.... no creativity.
Dick Lebeau used to almost come up with schemes mid game to get pressure. He used players to their strengths.
I think Austin's at his best when he has a lead and the Defense can just go after the QB.
I don't put this all on Tomlin as another did, I feel like Austin's defense got pushed around and never really made any sort of adjustments to change the game.

ummmm - it not AUSTIN's D. Any D coordinator since LeBeau is not really a DC - just a coach of sorts, a coordinator, but no where in 'charge' - that is why NO ONE (DC) goes on to another job from Pittsburgh. it is Mike Tomlin running those D's - every GM in the league knows that.

Ironic that PFF has finally started to give TJ some credit just as Steelers fans start to question his performance on the field.

I can’t believe this thread. TJ Watt should have been traded, he’s washed up, too late to trade him now because he wouldn’t be worth much. I find this thread laughable. I’m not one to get in the mix but this entire thread is just plain absurdity.

Steelers lose a game and it’s either fire Tomlin or an absolutely great player like Watt is washed up. THIS LOSS TO CLEVELAND WASN’T ON ANY ONE PLAYER, IT WAS OF A COLLECTIVE NATURE.
