i think he is a good coach in some ways, I think the players love him and play hard for him.
    I don t think he is a strong X's n O's coach maybe a little stubborn sometimes .
Lately too risky when he should not be and for the most part too conservative.

it's the short week no rest everyone is tired. Nothing to do with Tomlin ..except when he makes bad decisions it's the weather it's the players its everything.George Pickens is the only Steeler I respect right now he is mad and wants to win. I would like to see all the players play with that amount of emotion ---then we would see something different.

Tomlin is good with scheme for the most part. To me sometimes it is more about the flow of the game. It seems choppy alot of the times. Is that on execution and players alone or coaching? I honestly don’t know. What he isn’t good at is sometimes he is slow to change. Sometimes his conservative style and his aggressive style and the timing of both are puzzling to me. Last night instead of going for it on fourth and one I think a couple of times it would have been much better to play the field position game and punt it. Also when we are struggling in area it seems like it takes us forever to make the correction. Right now we are dealing with redone issues and short yardage issues. This is a big problem because it hampers sustainable drives and points. Finally he is horrible with clock management, timeouts and challenges.

I don't think Tomlin is terrible, but I also don't think he's nearly as great as he's made out to be. I think it's pretty clear that coachers who are better at strategy and adjustments, out coach him on a regular basis, especially in the play-offs. His teams play for him because players like him and respect him. He's largely gotten by on talent, but he is far from an idiot. I would love for him to explain why he doesn't use players like Muth, Washington and Williams more, especially in the red zone. Perhaps my biggest issue is why can't the Steelers ever get a good OC? Players have changed over the last 3-4 or so years, but it feels like we're watching the same inept offense year after year. The offense looks better with Wilson than Fields, but it's still not something teams worry about.

correct - this D has to be stellar (I had said pre-season, they need to hold teams to less than 20) because this offense would not produce more than 24 per week.

it was not built to do so. the MONEY was put into the defense.

i said pre game last night it would be an ugly ugly game. It was.

To answer your question the real good coaches do not need much time to prepare , they stay ready and can adjust quickly. Short week mike gets outcoaches as he is not as quick as to many other coaches . Do most of his critics hate him , no , but I hate being mediocre .

That argument goes out the window when the team you're playing against has the same short week and only has 2 wins, which is now the 3rd 2 win team we've lost to in 2 seasons

Just spitballing…every player gets beat up every week, and they each need time to recover. If you’re relying on ultra-talented players and the short week prevents them recovering to their elite peak…

My theory on always losing to bad teams. Good teams usually don't change much week to week of the regular season because what they are doing is working.

You get mostly what you see on film.

Bad teams are much more likely to be throwing out the old playbook and rolling out something completely different.

And Tomlin sucks at in-game adjustments. That's not a profound statement.

It also fits with his propensity to get blown out opening week and then steady the ship.

And teams often change things up and break tendencies for the playoffs, which again catches Tomlin off-guard.

That's not the question, but I appreciate your answer, but Tomlin is 10-6-1 on opening week

LoL. Not to argue, but how does the question I ask go out the window.....regardless of the the team, or record we face. That actually has nothing to do with what I asked. I don't think people are actually reading what the original question is, or I've not explained it correctly.

So since the real good coaches do not need much time to prepare....when they have more time they suck???
For example last night: Browns HC is 3-8 this year, but on a short week they win....so he is better because he is better on a short week, and not on a normal week??

Did you say anything that didn't come to pass? If you got those skills, what's going to happen next week vs the Bengals? When on a roll....

So wouldn't you think a team that gets by largely on talent....would be the teams that win on short weeks of preparation???
Yet this team loses most of the games on the short week if preparation, and is almost unstoppable during the regular season on long week of preparation....like Sunday night, Monday night, or off a bye week.

This is where , and I said it before....the going for it on 4th down, and try to run a two Qb system would fail, but everyone says no. It's something that Tomlin never does, and it's one if the reasons I like him,,but this year he has been listening to the fans too much, or someone too much....., and trying to go for it on 4th down, and trying to run a gimmick 2 Qb system. It's really not like him. There is a reason you have a punter, a field goal kicker, and a 1st string Qb, and 2nd string Qb.

I understand it ultimately falls on the HC. There is a conversation with the HC/OC and the flow of the game. The decisions sometimes feel knee jerk but there is a process. Some coaches do only what analytics say, some go more with gut and feel off the game. It's really up to the players to execute the play called. The other team wants to stop that.

Only a few that commented...actually answered the question how they see it, and I appreciate it.....The others either asked another question(Me: hey what is 2+2???.them: why is the sun hot??), or answered something that had nothing to do with the question(Me: what is 2+2???...them: 4+4 is 8).
I mean there is no forsure right , or wrong answer. That's why I asked....so I do appreciate the ones that did give an actual answer to the question.

I way liked him better when he played a more conservative approach. Like 4th down means....kick a field goal, or punt. 1st string Qb means.....He is, and will be the Qb. Too many games are lost than they are actually won. If You, Me , or anyone ever sits, and watches a whole week of football....you will see it over, and over again.....every week.
