we REALLY miss Warren , cannot throw the screen. Our offense is a 4 cylinder machine at 100%, running on 1.5 right now....

    1. Run more of a power scheme and pulling lineman.
    2. More designed Qb runs.
    3. Utilize Washington more in the passing game.
    4. Keep Tomlin and his playing in his fears mentality as far away from the offense as possible.

Play action passing, but since the QB doesn't go under center
and our OL is beat up and young. that may be an after thought. Must open it up soon.
Can't always bank on defense winning it for you.

the run blocking isn’t great right now and you need perfect run blocking for it to work with Najee. Warren and Patterson can make something happen out of nothing and they have the vision to cut back and accelerate through secondary holes if the primary hole is stuffed.

yeah.....sadly, that ship MAY have sailed.

    Russ Wilson
    Rom Wilson
J Warren.....how long, are they season lingering and nagging?
and that OLINE - season ending to several.

The onus is probably more on the level of QB play and game planning.

Austin isnt a bad route runner and with his speed he should be open plenty. He should be moved all around and with a high number of crossers.

Smith likes to run multiple plays from the same personnel and formation. He will run, pass, and play action from the same formations, and even have multiples of each. But when you have to keep re-teaching the basics because of injuries, it makes it tough to get going and keep it going. Other than getting healthy I don't think there is any plan that is going to work.

The X factor, injuries, has really hit the Steelers offensive unit hard. It's almost cruel when you think about it, but no one, not least of which the Dallas Cowboys and all the injuries they are currently dealing with as well, are going to shed one tear over our favorite teams' injury situation. Second, and in some cases, third stringers have to step up and show they are worthy of a roster spot. I don't think it would hurt to appeal to a higher power to at the minimum, stop the bleeding as it were. I hope the whole roster can remain relatively healthy the rest of the way and get some players back on the field, like Warren, Patterson and Highsmith (I know he's on the other side of the ball!). And Jones needs to play better. It would help if they can squeeze more production out of Jefferson and Miller leading up to when and if they make a move for another threat at wide receiver to compliment George. I think they have a decent TE room that needs to be used more. Washington intrigues the hell out of me as a target. I mean, a dude that big should be targeted at a minimum 6 to 8 times a game IF he isn't needed to help block most of his snaps. You really think defensive backs want to see him running at them with the ball and a head of steam?

The offense is obviously improved over the past three, four years, but the bar wasn't set very high. I'm hoping beyond all hope that as Fields and the rest of the offense becomes more comfortable with Smith's system, they will open it up to more intermediate and long throws, especially on first or second down. I feel comfortable speaking for everyone when I say I'm tired of looking at second and eleven, second and nine because the opposing defense has eight players crowding the LOS.

I don’t think it is Arthur Smith that is holding him back.

I like Ryan Clark when he was a Steeler, and I still like him, but I can't even on two hands count the times hes been wrong about his takes on TV. It would take my two hands, your two hands, and few more fans two hands. He been wrong so many times....., and not just about the Steelers. Example: Trubisky is light years better than Mason Rudolph. LoL
I could make a freaking list of the things he has said that has turned out to be wrong

Quarterback play and game planning doesn't excuse him being invisible so often.

Fields does go under center, and not just in short yardage.

That Ben guy said that Fields isn’t comfortable and he gets nervous under center because of his college playing days.

Add to this the fumbling problem and I can see why coaches are nervous. But when he isn’t fumbling he has been productive under center.

This is not a shot at Fields, but he goes under center less than our past Qbs did, and yet nobody is complaining about it like they did with our previous Qbs.

So he was open the first play of the game and then nothing for the other 60 minutes. Not buying it.

He had a great game the week before.

Id actually like to see Fields run less and attack downfield more. We need to stretch defenses. Best way to open up the running game. If Fields cant handle that give Wilson a chance.

What is percentage compared to shot gun, pistol? So many offensive limitations
    when not under center.

    And I was just thinking

Wasn’t that Ben guy uncomfortable under center

Couldn’t even run a QB sneak

    Hmmm
