Hope not, but Tomlin has a thing for him. If Tomlin could i think he would suck Wilsons dick

By all reports Tomlin really likes Fields, he really liked him during what he was coming out in the draft.

Just like the rest of you, I have zero idea if Wilson will be any good if he plays but I sure am making mental notes on who is clamoring for him to take over.
Heaven forbid the sacks and ints start piling up even worse. You can't put that genie back in the bottle.

Even though I'm not ready to give up on Fields yet.....I do find it odd that the exact same people that complained about past Qbs not playing under center.....find it ok that Fields plays even less under center......its kinda weird.:shrug::shrug::shrug:
They have completely forgotten about it .

I am wondering, barring an injury if he ever takes a snap this season. I think if Justin didn't play better in the 2nd half and Wilson was ready next week we might have seen him. So unless he ****s the bed I think its Justin from here on out. Cheapest starter as a back up in the league I guess.

    sooooo - he MIGHT.

if we lose on Sunday, if we score 3 in the first half - then HE MIGHT.

Is he still injured? WHO KNOWS.

Can he take a snap in shotgun, read and throw better - yes. Fields is our only future - for 2025 and beyond. But - this year is.......2024! Fields still looks to run very quickly. Not as bad as one look and duck Kenny, but it is part of being unsure and young.

    Russ......is not young.

Hey MIKEY T and Coach SMITH - CALL a better game on offense. Try THROWING some on first down. Try C Austin DEEP! Colts jammed that box on first down and dummy coaches STILL RAN Najee right up the gut. just dummy coaching.....

From Tomlin's presser, sounds like Wilson is progressing and they're looking at how he performs/calf reacts to being placed in tougher practice situations. It sure sounds to me that he'll get to play as soon as he's deemed healthy enough, barring Fields morphing into Superman. No question Fields is the better scrambler/runner and with the O Line banged up currently, when Russ finally goes in, he'll need that calf to run with.

Regardless, I'm glad we as fans aren't in the same position as last year with the QB circus. Fields has done pretty well to this point.

Russell still getting the LPs for this week against Dallas, so don't expect anything different.

And remember, as Long as Tomlin keeps Russ as the inactive 3rd string QB, he is not allowed to come in no matter how bad the starter plays. Only injuries to both Fields and Allen would allow Russell to enter the game

There is no short/long leash for Justin Fields.

this is a game by game thing. If we win, even if the offense and Fields don't play particularly well - the Fields train will keep moving along. But if we lose, specially this week making it two consecutive losses, even if the offense didn't play particularly badly (excluding a shootout) then the Wilson starting talk picks up steam and i bet he plays the following week.

I think Tomlin cares deeply about his legacy and he knows time is running out to prove the doubters wrong so he's going to have both guys on a short leash. He's been playing musical chairs with his Qb's with sometimes no rhyme or reason since Ben retired. Saddling them all with Matt Canada - just shows Tomlin has no clue on offense, Sometimes i wonder about his abilities on the defensive side of things too.

No not as bad (Canada is not here). Re Fields: Amazing what a decent coordinator can do for a young Qb.

Tomlin is 52. He could Coach another 15-20 years if he desires to. His legacy could still have a lot of years.

This calf injury is starting to feel like a face saving courtesy given to Wilson. If Fields has a bad game, it wouldn't surprise me if it heals suddenly though.

To be honest, I'd like to see how this offense would run with Wilson. I'm not as sure, as everybody else seems to be, that Fields is the obvious future of the franchise.

If Wilson comes in and does better, then what? Fields played one game out of 4 that excited me. The other three, although wins, were pretty unexciting performances.

If we don't get to see Wilson run the offense, it makes evaluation difficult. It wouldn't surprise me if the Steelers are also curious about this.

Seems like they're holding that card, waitng to play it. They could easily justify the change by saying that they've always had the "you don't lose your job to injury" policy on this team.

Obviously, you like to see Fields continue to be a passing weapon, like last week, and make all of this moot. I don't think anybody wants a 'game manager' franchise QB. You want a weapon.

Seems like Wilson may start, if not this week probably next game. If anything, this will answer any questions about which Qb is better suited to guide the team this year.

Like I said before.....before anyone can say if he plays, or not......He must be healthy enough to have a full practice, and not be the 3rd string emergency Qb. For some strange reason people think he's the backup, and he's not, at least he hasn't been.

based on a couple misleading article titles. He’s just making progress, going 11 on 11 in practice and moving up the depth chart. But the media is trying to stir up controversy. Fields handling the questions well so far…
