If the options were either Cotchery or cut Cotchery and sign Breaston...I'd keep Cotchery...no ifs ands or buts about it!

brown and cotchery starting sanders for the slot at the moment , than draft one in the middle rounds than a couple of udfa . should be enough ,tender sanders if sanders leaves take breaston and a pick (comp for sanders)

I think we are definitely drafting a WR at some point in the draft. And if we sign Breaston, I dont think we even give Burress a shot if cotchery is here. But I think we go into the season with 5 WR's this year instead of 4. I know we eventually had 5 on the 53 man roster in the season, but we only had 4 the first few games if I remember correctly.

don't we still have a vet discount in our pocket that rolled over to this year? like 750,000. we had two years to use? i'll have to do some digging. you and i talked about that last year. charlie was part of it i thought.

found it. we get 3 vet discounts of 250,000 each for a total of 750,000. it doesn't sound like much but as straped as we are, every dime helps. this could be charlie gets 250,000 off his total. foote 250,000 off his total. basicly if we sign them for a mil. each, we only account for 750,000 each of it towards the cap. maybe the last 250,000 for breaston.

Exactly. I was just working on my Excel salary cap model, and I have those set aside for hypothetical signings of guys like Breaston and Foote. The problem is (slightly off topic), that after max restructurings of Ben, Woodley and Timmons, and after allocating $1.323 million tenders to Dwyer, Sanders and McClendon, and smaller ERFA tenders to Van Dyke and Baron Batch, I still had to cut Harrison to get under the cap (assuming a 122 million cap). At this point, my model shows us 3.8 million under without draft picks or any UFA signings. I think we're going to see some serious bloodletting this offseason. The numbers are just not going to work without it. So, circling back to Breaston - even with a vet exemption credit, I'm not sure that I see the money there unless we either pass on Lewis or cut more players (Clark? Keisel?).

I've never seen Batch listed as an ERFA...I've only seen him as a regular under contract player.

Freak, I did not restructure Brown yet. There's a bit of money there, but his salary is only 2 million. I did not extend Ben because I am not sure there's help there. By restructuring Ben, you spread current contract money over 3 years. By extending him, you add new money - and probably a LOT of it. I am going to play around with numbers and see what the impact on 2013 is, but I doubt that an extension helps much more than a restructure - and may help less.

There is no way Breaston is signing anywhere for the vet minimum.
