He made a good 3rd WR playing with Boldin and Fitz. He's a good 3rd or 4th WR, but he's definitely not more than that.
I still hope we try to make Plax into a starter with Sanders in the slot. We need a guy like Plax.

NOT STEELER RELATED!!! NOT STEELER RELATED!!! I'M TELLING TTF!!! Oh.... LOL. Anyway that could be a guy worth looking at. He played pretty good for the Cards didn't he? Also since we're on the topic of people that could be on our radar my friend is a huge Chargers fan and he said it's looking like the Chargers might be looking to get rid of Shawn Phillips (who is apparently Bill Cowher's favorite player according to him) and he said that he heard he might land with us. You heard anything on that?

Too be honest I wouldn't be against him or Boss. At this point they are both mid to low level FAs that could help. However like Shaner said...about needing a guy like Plax...i'm assuming he means a big tall/etc guy...which I agree with too (however I don't see Plax as a starter). I think here soon we'll finally be hearing of some cuts/restructures/etc. So we'll see what happens and what moves they could make (if any).

I still think Plax will be a valuable asset to this team once he gets a full off-season and Summer camp behind him. I was at the loss at Cleveland in Plax's first game back and you could tell he wasn't anywhere near football shape. Once he gets his legs back, and gets back in rhythm with Ben, I think he'll be a nice contributor.

Steve Breaston isn't a bad idea at all. He was emerging as a bit of a stud on that Cardinals receiving corps until they went with a bunch of bums at qb. He is a guy that could probably be very productive with ANY kind of qb resembling an NFL qb at the helm.

Shawn Phillips is exactly the type of free agent we tend to go after. Not a househould name but if you insert him into the right system: James Farrior.

The only free agents the Steelers will sign are guys who will accept the veterans minimum. I think Cotchery will be the #3 receiver and they will draft a speed receiver in the early rounds.

He's the sort of signing I could actually see happening. If I'm not mistaken Breaston is also good friends with Lamarr Woodley from when they went to Michigan together. I'm pretty sure they've done camps for kids in the offseason.

He'd have to come cheap though. While we won't sign many, we will probably need to sign at least 1 WR... And it might be Breaston or Plax. Right now we only have AB and Cotchery on the roster, and I think Cotch gets cut because he's due more than he's worth.

This would be a sensible signing if the money can be found. Breaston is a "move the chains" kind of guy who can return punts and kicks if needed. I also recall that he almost never puts the ball on the ground, which would be nice after what we experienced with our young guys last season.

Also Phillips is like in his 10th season and already past 30...Farrior was a young guy (only in the league 5 years or so) when they brought him in. If they'd bring Phillips in why not just keep Foote?

I'd love to see what Plax could do with a full camp under his belt.
Interesting, I was not aware of that.
    Ha!

Yeah, he's got that versatility. Less dropped balls would indeed be refreshing.

It all comes down to money, and whether or not Breaston can play special teams (I'm guessing he was in KC?)

    Brown, Sanders, Breaston, Cotchery, Rookie?

I'd like to see Plax come back too, but I'm not sure the coaching staff wants him back. However, I think he could be a good leader for Brown and Sanders. I think them along with Wallace sort of rolled their eyes at Hines, but Plax is more on their level... and he can teach them not to have the attitude that he did.

It's reasonable to assume he'd be looking at the $715K minimum salary.

And I wouldnt be shocked if he'd take it. He's made some decent money the last couple years (and they probably still owe him some in KC). So to play for a winning team (yeah yeah 8-8 I know) and a great organization. Be re-united with Haley...his good buddy Woodley...and he's from the area??? WIN! Hahah...I like the line up by SBD...Brown, Sanders, Cotchery, Breaston and a rookie or whoever.

i think he equals cothchery. i think cotchery still has plenty in the tank if they would use him. i don't dislike breaston, just don't see the money. lewis and some backup linemen and maybe a RB. there was talk about cotchery getting cut. that would save us 1 mil. but still have 500,000 dead money. then spend 715 more for what we had? i'm not sure this is a good investment.

It's about time we have a " We should sign this guy post" that's realistic! I have a feeling if they sign him either Plax or Crotch is out. Or maybe both.

Plax was a one year, vet min deal ($925k). I'll be happily surprised if he is back. Cotchery is signed through next year, but releasing him would save a million...

Plax is a free agent. Little chance he'll be back if we were to sign Breaston and good chance they would cut Crotchery.
