I hope Ben was paying attention to Flacco in the playoffs this year when you don't throw the ball to the other team good things happen. I'm just being sarcstic.

Actually, when you just chuck it up in the air you need guys that can catch it. Flaccos balls should be picked, but his receivers fight for the football.

One thing I do like is that Flacco throws ball BEFORE receivers come out of their break. Ben waits till guys get open...and then covered.

Quite a few of Ben's interceptions happened when he throws before the break, and the receiver slips or does a soft break that allows the corner to react.

It also seems like in past years (BA designed plays??), that on 3rd and short, the receivers would run 10 yards downfield before looking back. Unfortunately, the cornerbacks are sitting 10 yards deep, so the receivers were often covered by the time they were ready to catch the ball (and not looking earlier when they were open).

i cant remember Ben ever having a wr that he can just throw the ball up and he knows his guy will get it. most of the great qbs have atleast 1 guy that can do that. Ben has always had small receivers with the exception of Burress. maybe Ben is on to something when he asks for a tall receiver.

i loved Ward, Holmes, Wallace, AB and Sanders, but none of those guys go get the ball. you watch Boldin play and when the ball is in the air its his. for a qb that is a great weapon to have.

on the 4th and 1 play in the super bowl where Flacco changed the play and called a pass to Boldin. that was not a great pass, but Boldin wanted the ball more than the defender. the Steelers would of had no shot on that play. the only guy that might be able to make that play is Miller and i wouldnt bet my pay check on that.

they need a guy that can make plays for their qb. whens the last time Ben through a pass and after the catch you said man his receiver bailed him out on that catch?

The WRs we have now are pussies and soft as you know what. Hines has been the one and only receiver to take it on and under the chin and do anything to catch that ball. Anyone recall what Plexiglass was like even in his prime. Christ he would duck if he knew he was about to get smoldered

We all have to admit though, we as steeler fans were spoiled because of Hines. He wasn't the biggest guy, but he had the biggest heart. Took more hits, and gave more than any WR i have ever saw. Not too many of those in the nfl. We just drafted smaller, shifty receivers the last few years, and now we have to deal with it and life without Hines. We need a big body guy who will fight for the ball. AB is very talented and can get open, but we need a guy who we can go to even if he isn't always open. Someone you can throw it up to and know he has a chance of coming down with it no matter how covered he is.

Agree 100%. All our receivers now are pretty much useless going up and getting a ball like Bolden or AJ Green. Flacco just heaves the ball down field and most of the time his receivers go up and get the ball or at the very least knock it down so it don't get intercepted. Ben doesn't have this luxury.

Grass is always greener on other teams, especially after they have won the Superbowl. Our receivers can do things that the Raven receivers can't, however, it would be nice to have one that can go up and grab some balls out of mid air.

Larry Fitzgerald anyone? A superstar playing in the Steel City again.
    HOW GREAT WOULD THAT BE?

    This.

I think some of you want to make out that our current receivers are afraid to play the game at all. That's simply not true. It's not like AB or Sanders sit down on the field with their heads in their hands when a DB is anywhere near them. They try and use the skills they have to break open. Next season, they need to try harder.
A receiver who doesn't fight for the ball won't last long in training camp, let alone the NFL. It's just that our guys didn't do it last season perhaps as well as we'd like them to.

My point was they are not tough. Hell if they get hit they are added to the injury list the next week. Which of our receivers this year did not miss time due to injury?

It was pathetic week after week watching them go down
