What were some of your favorite Steelers seasons without a Super Bowl win for the Steelers?

2004 is an obvious one, since it's always a success when you find a young franchise QB for several years and they were 15-1, but what other seasons did you love the most?

1976 they had 9 straight victories including 5 shutouts, but lost to Oakland in the playoffs due to Franco and Rocky both out with injuries. They both rushed for over 1000 yards that year.

IMO 1976 was the best Steeler team of the decade. When I tell the young about it they have to look it up because they think I'm lying about the shut-outs. No doubt in my mind we would be the only team with 3 straight SB's. Injuries got us:(

I followed that season from Europe and it was really cool when the locals asked me all about it since I wore Steeler gear all over Europe.

Based on this, I'm guessing we are close in age. That 1984 season is still one of my favorites. That team had a ton of rookies making an impact even though their second-round pick, Chris Kolodziejski, blew out his knee. Their quarterbacks were mostly awful, yet they were the only team to beat the 49ers and they made it to the AFC Championship game.

The rest of those had some great moments, but they were also incredibly frustrating.

Born in late '72.... a few weeks before the immaculate reception. 1984 was a bright spot in a lackluster decade for the Steelers. I had friends and family who were Raiders, Redskins and 49ers fans... and their teams were kicking ass during those years.

I was also born in '72, so that 1984 was that sweet spot of me having a child's enthusiasm for sports, but also starting to gain a more mature understanding of what I was watching.

My family moved to the suburbs of Washington, D.C. in 1986, so I know all about obnoxious Washington football fans. The best part of them having to change their name is making that stupid song obsolete.

1989 was nice also... after the debacle of the first 2 regular season games. Steelers overachieved in '84 and '89.

Then stop complaining about not winning a playoff game. Makes no sense.
Every team I've ever been on or seen. 2 objectives.....win enough to get in, and win to make the championship. I have never once heard.....Hey let win a playoff game. Only fans say that. .....man I hope we are good enough to win one playoff game. LoL.
You would think that someone like You claim to be....SBs don't matter guy.....winning seasons would be enough.
This is not a shot....I'm just confused by your talk. I'm a SB or bust guy.....So once You win enough regular season games to make the playoffs......I don't feel any better winning one playoff game ,or 2.....if We don't make the SB. I've seen a bunch of AFC Championship games as a Steeler fan, and I haven't been happy about any of the seasons we lost one.
So its funny to Me that the not SB or bust guys are the ones most complaining about ....one freaking playoff win. LoL
