You and I are on the same page on this one my friend. I have nothing against the kid, and I hope he ends up a perineal, all pro tackle. But boy...... we sure passed on some great talent, just to take the next best tackle available.

They really need a center, and with the QB run yesterday there's a chance someone previously thought not to be there at 51 will be there. But at the same time there's a chance for good CB, WR, and ILB to be there as well and might provide better value.

I am really wondering if they are not planning to start Nate Herbig at center. Maybe center isn't a need, because they already feel like they have thier guy.

While I know Omar has a plan, we really don't know what it is yet. We were all begging for a FA Center. Now we all want to draft a Center high. I'm certain come week 1 there will be someone in front of Wilson ready to snap him the ball. Really strange though.

Yeah, the thought has crossed my mind.

Seems unlikely, but I've never seen him play the position.

Okay, Alright, I passed on the info about Him having a prior LisFrank injury that has left him with a stiff foot. That EXACT info came from the NFL Network commentators just after we drafted him, along with that said stiff foot, that some said might need surgery, as a POSSIBLE reason That such a great, Highly, highly rated LEFT tackle made it to us at 20!

My reaction hearing that IN the moment was what the hell are we doing drafting a LEFT tackle with an injury like that at 20 when we are desperate for a day 1 starting center and the top 3 THREE of them sitting there, plus the top corners, ALL of them if fact, AND a dam nice WR like Thomas also there also. SO that explains MY point of view in that moment. There were MORE than 5 studs sitting there for us, and TWO positions that we had the pick of the litter C, and CB. I personally have Never seen that be available to us in round one, EVER!

I could just not fathom why we wound pick an injured LEFT tackle with all that high high end talent sitting there at THREE out of our four biggest holes! The 4 biggest holes in my order are OC, RT, WR,and SCB, and have never changed.

And I was WRONG!, need me to say it again, I was WRONG! About being upset with the pick. Maybe it was all the Highly rated OTs that last names that start with an F, and are just too close in spelling to keep straight

I never thought about him EVER being our pick because he was just too highly rated of a LT, and we AND the Steelers are, are, desperate to get Jones back to his best position LT AND get Moore to the bench! Two birds one stone. Add in the appearance and view when not being fully aware of his 5 position ability, it is absolutely understandable to to be pissed and questioning taking back to back high end LTs when you traded UP to 14 to draft Jones and were forced to get him on the field at RT. The immediate Thought is that The LT that was traded up for, and picked at 14 is better than yet another LT drafted at 20. I was wrong again in the moment

The talent of every draft class HAS to be compared to EVERY other class drafted and future classes as well. I have ran so many sims with knowing we already had our LT of the future, that we have playing out of position that it was clear to go OC in the first. That's what would get us the best chance of filling some of our biggest holes with sticking to BPA on the board first. Making me have my heart absolutely set on Barton, but any of the top 3 center in the draft.

Looking at the totality of Fautnau, every thing he can do, the level he appears he can and will do them in at the pros he was absolutely the best player the should have picked even what was on the board. I am even more comfortable with than Barton as he IS a better player than Barton, and I believe he can even play center better Than Barton. So the best plan I could find is still in play. If the center make it to us he's the RT, if not He's the starting C, and just need to find a good RT to start day 1, not a dominate one to get Jones to his best position, LT.

I like McConkey. Didn't think he'd be a realistic get for the Steelers though.

Did they cut Heinke? They may need a third-stringer here.

Come-on, if Herbig was at all even close to being ready to play center, you would NOT have seen Mason Cole take every offensive snap at Center last year.

As bad as Mason Cole was last year, Herbig must have been worse considering his 0.00 snaps at Center..
