Don’t forget they also passed on the FA center from Buffalo they could have easily signed.

And I believe they only had two centers in for their top 30 visits. For such a big need they don’t seem overly concerned with the position.

He’s not just a guy without a position with injury red flags. He is also short (6’3” and some change), played in a soft conference, and will be a 24-year old rookie. This one makes no sense.

Yes and if he plays RT, this makes much more sense and I am happier. OC still a need, but if we had taken OC, OT would be a need, so either way, AT LEAST we worked to upgrade the OL, the biggest weakness on the team. I dream of old glory days, when Steelers usually had an above average OL, year in and year out. Colbert dropped the ball taking skill players above draft slot/value, when we desperately need REAL NFL OL and not projects we kept takign in later rounds.

Chiefs just traded up. Maybe for Dejean or Wiggins. If it's a WR probably the 4.21 Worthy.

True, they certainly know their team better than I do… it’s just a hard thought to fathom. Relying on a guy that couldn’t pass Cole on a depth chart doesnt make one feel easy, that’s for sure.

But hey, we rolled Green and Cole out there for the past 3 years so maybe they’re comfortable with that level of play from the position.

Exactly right. We could have just gotten summertime like

My problem is that you had a lot of solid options on the table just to roll the dice on projecting a player could switch positions. I just feel like this was a pure reach for need. I would rather
This is just my 2 cents. The DJ trade now comes back to bite us. If that trade doesn't go down, Mitchell is the no brainer selection as the CB2. Jackson can't play slot, so then the Steelers are left to overthink and pick based on need. Couple that with the fact that they probably could have at least gotten the same production at corner at pick 20 than giving away their #2 WR that they are now finding they can't replace without paying much more than they traded him away for is worse.

Hopefully Fautanu surprises us all, but I really wish we went in a different direction. If Frazier doesn't make it to 51 then our day 1 center hope is done. We will not get a bona-fide #2 WR now that Thomas is off the board. The corner we draft will be a project. I just feel that we could have fully solidified at least one area of need with that pick, but ended up just reaching because the best options were not a need.

49ers take Ricky Pearsall, most mocks had him in the late second round.

I just did a quick search. Two of these have him ahead of both corners. Jeremiah has him between the two of them. All have him as a great value at 20.

He is a freakish athlete with great tape, among the top 15 players on every ranking I've seen. He is not a player without a position. He is a player who is talented enough that he can play more than one position. There is a difference. Given all that, the pick makes plenty of sense.

Don't get me wrong. I wanted them to trade back. Failing that, I wanted Mitchell or Barton, but they got a great value at a position they needed to upgrade.

Another WR gone, Legette to the Panthers. Cooper Dejean, Kool Aid among others fall to the second round.
