Got a kick out of your dinner choice. Easter is generally ham and sadly lamb (can't stomach it) but you went full 4th of July on dinner:)

Got the best pierogi ever by chance at a Pittsburgh street market. Was up for the Pirates and walked into it by chance.

have to watch a little sodium. no salt seasoning salt, garlic powder, rosemary on the ribs and finished them this time with guy feiti sp? apple bar-b-que sauce, which is also fairly low in sodium. no salt butter and campbells no salt added cream of chicken in the cheezy potatoes. some sodium in the cheese of course. they didn't even notice. :smiley1: key lime pie has a little but for the most part pretty low.

I'm on this. Older wife and I get the crock pot is becoming our best friend. I'll be using those already to go mash taters. Not the instant but Bob Evans. So simple.

Let me know how it turns out.

My wife and I made them for a party. Everyone that tried them that loves pierogies really liked them. My relatives now make us bring them to family dinners.

I hope you try them. If you are a fan of pierogies, you should give them a shot. It's easy.

My mom used to use lasagna noodles and layer them in a baking pan. Butter and onions, layer of noodles, layer of cheese potatoes, butter and onions, next layer of noodles, layer of cheese potatoes, noodles, butter and onions. Cover with tinfoil, bake for an hour. Serve like lasagna.

to state the obvious, if there were no resurrection, there would be no Easter Sunday celebration,

so, as some of you may have heard on Sunday morning:

    He is Risen!

We have used the lasagna noodles as well. We change it up, but it seems using the smaller noodles makes it easier to mix and spoon out of the crock pot.

They are so easy to make. Your mom was doing that in a shallow dish like lasagna, and then you are able to cut squares of it and serve it. With the crock pot, you are able to scoop up what you want with a large spoon.

They taste great either way. You can't mess it up.

Love the idea! How the hell did she think that recipe up?? What do you mean "cheese potatoes"???? Layer of cheddar and layer of small potatoes?? I want to try this.

I'm sure you have seen the thread on game day* asking members what they will be eating during the Steeler game. I've got some damn good ideas for dinners from it.

    * Right now the Pirates have my attention but I'm pretty sure they will be the Pirates we all know soon enough and I'll be anxiously awaiting for the Steelers GDT. ;)

This morphing of Easter and food reminds me of a funny line in Jack Black's Nacho Libre' when one of the padres confronts him (Ignacio) about his cooking (slop) and says: "Do you not realize that I've had diarrhea since Easters"! Classic.

Cheese potatoes are just mashed potatoes with a healthy amount of cheese in the mix. My mom used American cheese, because she really didn't like cheese, but cheddar works really well.

our cheesy potatoes are southern style hash browns, a can of cream of chicken or cream of mushroom, 8oz. of sour cream and shredded sharp cheddar, and a stick of butter, mixed together and baked. the last 10-15 minutes the wife puts crushed up potato chips on top. bakes about 45 minutes.
