That's not a QB room problem. That is a Mike Tomlin and owner problem for giving Kenny the starting job and reps instead of going with Mason years ago and giving him the starting job and starter reps in many offseasons leading up to last 3 games where he came in as 3rd stringer and performer as well as Russ. That's an organizational problem, for fking up.

You may be right but I would rather they try to make it better then just stand pat.

And what did Mason do years ago to be the starting QB?

What did Kenny do to be given the starting job? What did Russell Wilson do to be given the starting job in Seattle in 2012?

I see this trade as low risk/high reward. Hell, I see the QB room as a whole as low risk/high reward. If they both suck, you lose less than 5m and a 2025 6th round pick. Obviously we hope one of the two are successful and if it's Wilson, you have a bridge to the next guy; and if it's Fields, you have either your long term starter or your backup; if they both are great, then you end up with a situation where you can trade one of them (if both are signed for 2025 and beyond). I love this current situation.

Neither Kenny nor Mason is good enough, so it's time to move on.

I'm pretty sure the previous QB room would replicate their numbers with what you say.

They have a much better OC than last year, and upgraded the QB position too.

That doesn't exactly point to him being good for their future.

The results could turn out to be less than desirable, but I’m enjoying the HELL out of this swinging for the fences approach!

They are trying like hell. I feel a sense of urgency at least. It’s exciting if nothing else.

Kahn and Wiedle in less than a year has given me so much HOPE!

I was well prepared to be far less engaged and invested in this squad under Tomlin that SEEMED to be committed to riding the .500 mediocrity train that impresses everyone except most Steelers fans.

    I DON’T THINK THEY’RE DONE!

Cannot wait to see the Kahn moves (;)) in the draft!!!

    :herewego!:

    Raiders moved on from Stabler
    Jets moved on from Namath
    Eagles moved on from McNabb
    Colts moved on from Unitas
Favre to the jets didn’t work out too well

lots of failed moves too, you just don’t know which way it’s going to go

Our qb MIGHT be better. Our OL clearly is not (gaping hole at center, not to mention LT), and WR is clearly worse. I don’t see how anyone can be confident the Steelers offense will be better next year.

You seem to think either QB will make this offense better. Chicago and Denver had better offense last year than Pittsburgh, but they both were below average. So we might have upgraded qb a bit at the cost of NOT addressing OL and weakening our WR. We were the worst offense in the AFC North last year. I see little reason to see how these move change that.

Arthur Smith is better than Canada but he is not a quality OC. His passing game in Atlanta and Tennessee are nothing to brag about.

What I see on this board is just wishful thinking..Fields/Wilson and Smith will lead us to the promised land.
Mind you, the issues with OL, antiquated passing game concepts (Did people on this board forget what JuJu said about the Chiefs vs the Steelers), and having a conservative, mediocre head coach remain unfixed.

Trade for WR maybe? What’s left on the FA market isn’t too exciting but a trade for Justin Jefferson would be.

Draft is also strong at WR.

Ah, now we get to the root of the negativity because otherwise it’s impossible to look at this offseason and think this team hasn’t improved.
