I can not stand Fields so I guess I have to root for him now but giving up a 6th rounder that could climb up to a 4th if he plays 50% of the snaps is a very good trade

I said this would get a lot of disagrees, but so Did the comments I made when we signed Trubisky, but all them disagreeing people suddenly disappeared when He actually played for us.

They got a young qb for a 6th round pick. That tells me just how talented NFL GMs think Mr. Fields is.

I like we didnt give much up for Fields, dont think anyone was going to give much for Fields. Hopefully, Steelers restructuring Fields contract. This is his last year on rookie contract.
Once again another highly touted qb from da Bears! Guess if this one doesn’t work we can go for the hat trick in 2 years

Kenny went from starting to competition to the Eagles.

But yes, I expect Wilson to start but its anyones guess what actually happens after this offseason.

But da Bears couldnt wait to get rid of him. Makes sense, said noone ever! Steelers 2 qbs , both discarded yet we got em. One cost 2 teams combined 110 million to let him walk. But , it all makes sense

Do you think it would have been better to have Kenny and Mason?

Like I said . This could be the one that gets some fired. Hell we should go get Malik Willis as our 3rd string now. Really do it up well. Please Russell Wilson stay freaking healthy, and wise, and dig us out of this stupidity.

You answered your own question. The Iggles knew Marcus Mariota was leaving and had weeks to get Fields. They could have spent only a 6th rnd pick and the still said no thank you. Many NFL teams could have traded for Fields, and they decided not to. That's very telling. Pickett was available for less than a week and got traded for a 3rd pick. Hmm...

The Steelers moves tell me they do not understand how to judge qbs. Neither Fields nor Wilson is known to be consistent executors that play with the structure of their offense. They are both known for their ability to make plays when things breakdown. The Steelers offense next year will be inefficient and probably more turnover prone. How does that lead to more victories??

I see the point about how it ended for them both at their previous teams, but wonder what the naysayers would want instead?

We have ALMOST NOTHING invested in both of them. Relax.

They're probably going to add another day 3 guy in the draft as well.

Agreed. I was pretty disappointed when Wilson was the only QB on the roster. Made me think they were going to reach for a crappy QB in the draft.

Wilson and Fields both have a lot of upside. Both also have a lot of question marks but that's to be expected with what they're paying them and what it cost to acquire them.

There's a report that the Bears turned down the Eagles offer earlier this week.

Agree, but there is nothing preventing them from doing an extension for 2 or 3 years after training camp if they see something they really like. Last year the Steelers signed Mitch to his 3 year $33 million with incentive contract to be the Steelers backup.

5th year option is $25 million, but if somehow Fields takes the field and plays like a maniac you would be looking at $35 million to tag him next year.

I only see fields as a backup to Wilson for next season. Also as an insurance piece. If russ does good they will not pay 25 mil 5th year option for fields to sit.

Actually, the Eagles were working on an offer for Fields but Chicago was asking too much so that's why they traded for Pickett.
