True, it's just talking heads speculating. KP is the Steelers' guy, they drafted him with a #1 pick and will not give up on him until he's given a shot with a real OC.

Perhaps but that’s nearly 400 yards, still doesnt support STDs argument.

I don’t have a twitter x account so I can’t see the predicted compensation. What is it?

    A 2024 2nd and 2025 5th is their guess

That’s still a pretty expensive lottery ticket. Especially when we factor in that we only get 1 season at a low cost, then have to either pay for his option year or let him be a UFA (and I think we’d need to make that option decision shortly after trading for him, before even seeing him play in the B&G). A big “no thanks” for me.

Agreed. Couple that with 38 interceptions and 30 fumbles in 40 games and it’s a hard pass from me. Now if the bears want to cut him outright and the Steelers can sign him on the cheap as a project then maybe

    This.

Everyone at this point knows that the Bears want to move on from Fields and are going to draft a QB. So where is the leverage now? It sure isn't giving them a 2nd rounder. Unless someone thinks he is worth it. I don't. I can see the pick compensation fading in the rear view.

No Fields, unless he comes cheap

Fields played one more game than Kenny, but he threw for 500 more yards and 10 more TD's. The WR's should be happy, I am certain they would welcome the change. We shouldn't have to run Fields as much too.
I've never advocated to spend the first. Multiple posts in this thread I've stated as much. If its a second... I certainly entertain it. I'd rather spend a 2nd on a guy like Fields than spend multiple firsts, potentially more 2nd's/3rd's/etc. to roll the dice on another guy that's never played a snap in the NFL. "Can't miss" prospects miss all the time. There's probably a higher reward since a non-zero amount of first round QB's turn out to be superstars, but most of them are the same or worse than Fields. There are VERY few guys I'd give up that kind of capital for. The only guys I've ever advocated trading an entire draft like that for would have been CJ Stroud and Joe Burrow.

I don't think Fields will be with the Steelers but some of you citing ints doesn't make sense. He had less ints that the 2 SB team's QBs. And many of the playoff teams. That's a false argument to hyperbolize your point.

It isn't likely to cost a first round pick. That is their asking price. I could ask for 500k a year in an interview, but it doesn't mean anyone is willing to give it. Fields is a tradeable asset and if they go QB in the draft (they are) then they want to get SOMETHING for him instead of nothing. Unless there is a bidding war between multiple teams, they might not even get a second. They won't hold onto him as a back up and let him walk for nothing.

And yeah, they placed a high priority on protecting the ball because Kenny isn't good enough to overcome turnovers. He can't score points... So they told him to just avoid turnovers and let the defense carry him (and they did). I dont buy that they placed such a high priority on not turning it over to the effect of stunting their talented young QB. They told him to not turn it over because when Kenny was given free reign and the offense was opened up, he flopped. They reeled him back in because he sucks. Not the other way around.

Ever since we won the coin toss over the Bears enabling us to draft Terry Bradshaw in 1970, they’ve been trying to get even with us.;):lolol:

I could see the Bears taking a second round pick, along with some later round picks for Fields.

Some of us thought Trubisky could be a game manager for the Steelers, we all know how that worked out.

At this point in their respective careers, Tannehill is NOT an upgrade over Mason.

Actually, we don't know what the Bears are asking for Fields, because they haven't said he's available for trade yet.

I assume this is an opinion that he would win the fair competition with Pickett

He most certainly would not be handed the starting position

Do you think it will be reported that Chicago has given permission to Fields and his agent to seek a trade?

LOL... I am sure it will be a fair and open competition, just like in 2022 when Mitch won the job. Rudolph may have looked the best in camp that year, but we were told that didn't count because he knew the playbook better than anyone else.
