Steelers cut Okorafor, Harvin, and Trubisky

I know there is already a thread about Trubisky, but they released Chuks Okorafor and Pressley Harvin, too. No great losses, but I'm surprised they didn't trade Okorafor.

good start to get rid of DEAD WOOD. not sure what the OKOR details look like - maybe they tried and nothing there, who knows. NOW - keep on moving with the CUTS! Harvin was cut 24 months late

Harvin should have been cut two years ago...

I'm surprised these three get immediately cut when there is not real reason to make quick decisions. Am I wrong ... if we waited a few months we would have save a little more cutting Trubisky?

Rooney and Khan must have wanted these guys GONE!

Again, Kevin Colbert will very likely cart wheel his way into Canton. Even so, contracts like these ones are a blemish for certain. This isn't to say that Kahn has not nor will not have them (all the great GMs have) but oof man.... oof.

looks like cutting chuks costs $3.08 million in dead money but saves us $9.75 million in salary.
looks like cutting harvin costs $20,000 in dead money but saves $890,000 in salary.
looks like cutting Mitch costs $4.6 million in dead money but saves $11.2 million in salary.

 

They needed to release Trubisky by early March to avoid a roster bonus. They should be able to designate post-June 1 (up to 2 players, I think) and realize the additional savings this year.

Chuks Okorafor. I was hoping they would try and trade him for at least a 5th rounder they don't have. Oh well.

 

Are you Fields folks high? WHY on earth would they go after him? He would cost a first or second plus. In return you get someone that needs A LOT of work. We already have that and the investment was made.

Just stupid to keep bringing this guy up. He isn't good. Steelers aren't after him. done.
