I did not think about this untill the other day, but why is the talkingheads/media makeing a big deal abought Ray's retirement? Tony is retireing to at the end of the season. and yet we don't here a wrd abought it!.in fact i think Tony anounced his retiement first. Could it be that' its b-cause Ray is much more FLAMEboyant then Tony is??? lol ........ Personaly i think Tony has done more for his team/teams than Ray has over the years.. He sure the hell did more for his team in the game Sun than Ray did for the Ravens!!!!!!!!!

I've heard plenty about both guys. There's been lots of talk about Tony G. retiring, just as there has been lots of talk about Ray Lewis retiring.

As for who has done more for their teams, I don't see how you can argue against Ray Lewis. He led his team to the SB and was the Superbowl MVP. I don't know what more you can ask of a guy.

As for who did more Sunday, Tony G. had 50 yards and a TD, good numbers, and was big when they needed him the most late in the game. Ray Lewis had 17 tackles and now has 30 tackles and 1 pass defence in 2 games. Those are very good numbers.

I know everyone hates the Ravens and hates Ray Lewis, but at least give the guy credit for the things he's done

I will admit that i didnt mention the SB and i agree with u on that,, but as far the 17 tckls i think that might be a lil bit embelished, i dont remember him being in on that many tckles that game

It's not embelished. Those are the official stats from the game. 17 tackles is a hell of a lot. Clearly both Ray Lewis and Tony G. significantly helped their teams win.

I'd rather see tony win a ring and hoist a lombardi up. He's a bettis type player, does his job how he is supposed to and is one of the best to ever do it. It would be nice to see him go out like the bus did! Ray already got a ring....screw the ravens

Sure flamboyance and having a high profile are part of it, but it ain't all, not by a long shot.

First LB is amore important position than TE. If you doubt it, I ask you this, name the top 5 LBs of all time. You can probably rattle off 12 names without thinking hard and you could have a great debate about them. Then, name the top 5 TEs of all time. A lot harder, can you come up with 5?

second, Ray was a leader, a leader of one of the best Ds for a lot of years, Gonzalez was not a visible leader for his teams.

Third, success. The Ravens and Ray-Ray won a SB and contended for a lot of years. Gonzalez was on the winning side of a PO game for the first time on Sunday.

Don't get me wrong Gonzalez is a great player, 13 Pro Bowls is impressive as hell (Lewis also has 13 Pro Bowls).

But there's no way I believe Gonzalez has done for his teams over the yrs than Ray has for the Ravens.

I would really like too see the Falcons win the SB. They've never won and Gonzales would get a much deserved ring. Personally, I've seen enough of a man involved in a murder too last a lifetime.

17 tackles? Isn't he paid to tackle opposing players? How many of those were solo? Lewis has been good through the years but, he's not the only defensive player. I'd rather have Ed Reed than Ray. For many years, Gonzales was the only real offense the Chiefs had. I'll miss seeing Tony G but can't wait 'til Lewis is gone.

One guy was the entire offence but still has one playoff win in his career. The other guy was the leader of a defence that was among the best in the league for a decade, and he was the Superbowl MVP. You can say you want Reed all you want, but Ray Lewis was the leader of that team and was the best player on that team for a long, long time. Ed Reed's legacy takes nothing away from Ray Lewis. That's like saying having Troy means James Harrison was never really as good as many say he was. It's a stupid argument and makes no sense.

Besides, doesn't Tony G get paid to catch balls?

Agree with shaner this argument makes no sense...everything you said about Ray could be replaced with Tony...

Isnt Tony Paid to catch passes

Tony has been good through the years but hes not ATLs only offensive player

I hate the Ravens more than anyone...actually I hate everyone other than the steelers...

Except that, as you said, the Ravens defense has been great since Lewis has been there. He's been a good player on a great defense where Gonzales has been a great player on mediocre offenses. Take your man-crush off the Ravens teams and their defense is still great, takeGonzalesoff of the Chief's team and, most years, they have little to no offense.
