If a private is out of order you don’t expect the colonel to deal with it that’s why you have seargents

He is another one that I won't be sad to see go. His track record: Steelers 22-present, 20-21 Panthers, 17-19 Chargers, 15-16 Bills, 13-14 Bears, college coaching before that. All NFL jobs are Offense side jobs, almost always O line.

O line rankings by years and team record:

    23 Steelers 18th 10-7-0
    22 Steelers 16th 9-8-0
    21 Panthers 31st 5-12-0
    20 Panthers 18th 5-11-0
    19 Chargers 29th 5-11-0
    18 Chargers 30th 12-4-0
    17 Chargers 24th 9-7-0
    16 Bills 11th 7-9-0
    15 Bills 9th 8-8-0
    14 Bears 15th 5-11-0
    13 Bears 19th 8-8-0

Mediocre performance at best. I know that there are a lot of things that go into it such as the OC, injuries, strength of schedule, the other players and much more, but you have to look at something and I don't want to write a book. He has 5 losing seasons, 2 at 50/50 and 4 winning seasons. Overall average of 20th.

I think that the O line is the heart of the offense. It protects the QB and it sets up the run. Guys that are good at catching the ball are a dime a dozen. With a good O line, a mediocre QB becomes much better, and if the O line is opening holes, any RB can push out for a decent gain. But with a bad O line, none of that happens. So I think this might be another spot that we can look at for an upgrade.

You have to wonder how hiring coaches works in the NFL. A coach's track record is very easy to see. Why do you hire a guy to run your O line when the 5 years and 2 different teams before you ranked 24, 30, 29, 18, and 31? Clearly he is not getting it done and you decide maybe he will figure it out? 4 out of 5 teams he has run the O line for had a better O line in his first year than in the year he left. That is a bad stat.

    Sure

Decent is something to aspire to

Neither gave a good effort shame on their WR coach

One is ranked 24 the other not ranked in the top 25

    That’s not decent

Well since every team has at least 5 Wr a team...,and there are 32 teams... 24, and 25 out of at least 160 isn't bad either

No....I'm simply pointing out that 24, and 25 out of 160 , or more WRs.....is fairly decent. We both know if the Qb play was better....they would automatically have been better. Very few Wrs make Qb.....most wrs are made by Qbs.

True. But this is not the military. The head coach ignores the diva mentality and has been for years. And possibly Jackson went to Tomlin and said they need to do something, anything. So what was done? Nothing. And so the scape goat is Jackson. Yes they need a better fit I agree to get more out of the divas as well as Austin. Plus his contract was up and I bet if he had another year he would possibly still be here.

Surprised Ronald Curry didn't get an interview. Nice resume and from Hampton Roads. I went to HS in that area and Curry was about last player I followed .The Crabbers were always loaded.

Pickens did lead the league in yards per catch , and Diontae scored 5 TDs after not scoring any in 2022, and this was with a JV OC and QB play.

I’m guessing you didn’t watch the games

Making those minimal statistics while giving minimal effort is not something to boast about

Do you like 8-8 or non loosing seasons

Otherwise don’t support lack of effort

    Mediocre is not the goal

Fine line between non losing seasons and winning seasons. I’d prefer the national love fest talk about the winning seasons on the resume instead of their euphemism for basically breaking even or somewheres close.

if additional specialist/staff hires equate to W’s get it done!
