    Agreed. There were cracks in several players responses right before Canada was fired, they had enough. Kenny was the only one to maintain toeing the company line.

    The safe thing is to not speak out of your lane. Not the job of a rookie QB to advocate or not for the OC. That's the owners job. Safe things was to say he focused on continuing to learn and improve as QB.

    I would like to see Steelers bring in a new OL coach and pass game coordinator

    If he was cut and they brought him in on a cheap 'prove me' deal like Haskins, then there is no problem. If they trade a pick (especially 2-4) for a guy they have to pick up the guaranteed 5th year option, then please no.

    That's very much where I'm at. It's at least a two year commitment and that's simply not palatable for me. I'd much rather reset the QB rookie 4-5 year clock than do that.

    I'm not sure you can 'reset' someone for that long, but his 5th year option is around 23 million, his cap hot this year is 6 million. Some of that may be dealed with in a trade but still most of that is guaranteed if you make that deal. That's a lot for someone you are bringing in to push KP, and to then have to pick up his option (or not)..in the end you still likely have nothing. Every year in the draft is a crapshoot, but look at a last year and our first 4 picks look like they are going to be contributors relatively cheap. We already have more holes than this draft can fill, can't see the logic in trading for him. Getting a BU may not be cheap, but its not necessarily 30 million against the CAP. Everyday there are articles of what the team may...or needs to do, of course these are just things to fill space, but I looked at this one and saw, more than production..cost. You look at these names and honestly there is not much out there. A couple have been talked about here, and the others are just horrible to think about. Current CAP situation versus what Omar can/will do does not really matter, he will do what he does, but there really is not much out there to get really excited about.

    6 veteran QBs for the Steelers to consider as competition with Kenny Pickett in 2024 (msn.com)

    @Vox Ferrum@Vox Ferrum,

    What I meant by resetting the QB rookie contract clock is drafting a new rookie QB, preferably in 2025. That's more palatable than trading for Fields.

    Personally I would just like them to draft pieces to fix OL, DL, CB, ILB...but if a 'decent' guy is there then you at least have to consider him as a fix it piece as well. It is a crap shoot, the possibility of getting a star QB drop a lot, but this is where you might find that guy. A missed 3rd or 4th rounder gives us something to gripe about when someone else we could have taken becomes a star, but in reality even if its Dak quality,,,you cannot complain when it turns out right.

    You don't need a history as a QB coach to develop a QB.

    Meaning that there are plenty of successful offensive coordinators that developed successful QB's that were never a QB coach.
